MBDA - Systems Design Engineer - Graduate Development Programme November 2013 - Present
Full time position, with tasks such as synthesising user requirements into technical requirement specifications for design, whilst engaging with and understanding the constraints and needs of the end customer and design authorities and communicating these with senior engineers and management across Europe. My knowledge of missile sub-systems, electronic interfaces and system level environmental limitations has improved greatly, extending further afield than purely the defence sector. During my first 6 months, I was directly responsible for saving the company in the region of £500,000 as well as independently coming up with and submitting a proposal for a multi-million saving over the next decade, which is now being implemented.

Assisted with the Managing Director in data analysis for which we collected from on-site locations.
R.H. Engineering Services - Engineering Maintenance Assistant Summer 2011 & 2012
Travelled regionally to repair, maintain and service garage lifting and bay equipment. This role was full time and involved real world, hands-on engineering analysis and problem solving.
Research Experience
University of Central Lancashire, 9 week Research Placement Summer 2013
Critically evaluated research papers at the forefront of galactic research and collaborated with academics on the subject. Compiled a large database for galactic variables which I then applied statistical analysis to. Successfully wrote several funding proposals to the Royal Astronomical Society and to Trinity Hall. The work will contribute to an academic paper in preparation on super massive black hole formation and evolution.
Additional Skills
Computing- Working knowledge with systems engineering tools IBM Rhapsody, DOORS and Dimensions. Advanced use of MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel. Experience with C++ and Matlab.
Language- German - Intermediate (GCSE level), Russian - beginner.
Writing- Completed an extended essay at university and have begun writing astrophysics articles online.

I was the national representative for young people in my home city. I managed two deputies and coordinated local meetings with councillors and business executives and delivered speeches and presentations to key stakeholders.
Captain of Trinity Hall Pool Club 2011 - 2012
Selected and trained the college pool team, organised weekly matches, securing promotion and the cup title.

Interests and Hobbies
Amateur Astronomy- Use of my own telescope, operated telescopes at the Alston Observatory.
Music- Have played the guitar for ten years and regularly watch live music, of all genres.
Sport- Go to the gym at least three times a week in the evenings and play football on weekends.
