Profile
During my degree, and PhD, I have developed skills in the areas of academic and scientific research, including interdisciplinary research and collaboration. My interests include theoretical and experimental nonlinear optics, Nuclear and plasma physics, quantum field theory, computer simulation / modeling techniques and abstract linear algebra.
My previous research has been focused on the simulation of few-femtosecond pulse generation in Raman media. This has required me to learn and employ a variety of mathematical and computational techniques for the numerical simulation of multi-dimensional nonlinear equations, therefore my research has also allowed me to gain experience working with Pascal, Matlab, FORTRAN and C+ programming languages.
I have also had experience providing undergraduate lectures, tutoring students and supervising undergraduate projects in the areas of mathematical physics and numerical simulation techniques.
I wish to broaden my horizons, take on new challenges and contribute to physics and engineering research and development.
Experience
The University of Salford, Salford, Manchester October 2009 - September2013
PhD researcher
The development of my PhD thesis required independent and novel research in the area of theoretical nonlinear optics, specifically, high intensity few-femtosecond pulse generation in cavity confined Raman media (Hydrogen and atmospheric Nitrogen).
Research in this area required the use of analytical and computational methods for the solution of large sets of (2+1) dimensional nonlinear envelope equations. Particular emphasis was placed on the development of a hybrid Runge-Kutta / ADI (alternating direction implicit method) finite difference technique for the accurate solution of the resulting equations
The University of Salford, Salford, Manchester October 2009 – August 2012
Part time lecturer
I was responsible for lecturing first and second year undergraduates in the areas of math’s and computer simulation / mathematical modeling.
McDonalds, Denton Store, Manchester January 2005 – September 2009
Staff training manager
The staff training manager position involved training new employees, control of the Store safe and till system, and running various sections of the store.
Education
The University of Salford September 2006
BSc Physics First Class
Bachelor of Science
I also received the School prize for outstanding academic performance for completing my degree with the highest percentage score of my academic year.

Interests
In my spare time I enjoy riding and restoring motorcycles, attending concerts and rallies and learning to play the guitar. I’m also interested in the more abstract areas of physics such as higher dimensional field theories and quantum field theories on a curved space-time, and therefore spend an appreciable amount of time studying modern mathematical physics.
