Mandate: Manage the Field Operations team to deliver a world-class Mobile Phone and data service to the Alberta Region on a 7/24 basis, meeting all company KPI’s and performance objectives. Manage internal and external customer relationships as well as vendor relationships and contracts.
Telus is the leading mobile phone service provider in Western Canada and the second largest provider in Canada as a whole. They offer several technologies including CDMA and Iden services and have recently rolled out a new infrastructure implementing next-generation HSPA services across Canada, with an ultimate goal of a nationwide LTE cellular network with its associated broadband TCP/IP network infrastructure.
Direct management of a team of 16 service professionals responsible for the maintenance, commissioning and upgrade of over 500 cell sites and associated infrastructure in Alberta Canada on a 7/24 basis including radio, microwave and broadband terrestrial connectivity.
Budget planning and responsibility of over 3 million dollars
Strategic and Operational planning for a Billion dollar network roll out of next generation HSPA cellular services across Canada.

Director of Engineering
Mandate: To research, develop and implement a new communications and networking product and it’s associated services by creating a new engineering structure in a traditional manufacturing company. This involved managing change in corporate direction and culture while maintaining an existing profitable legacy product line. A key focus of this initiative was to Implement RFID tracking of material and personnel in the mine for both safety and productivity reasons.
The “Northern Light Digital Network” is an Ethernet based communications system and software suite for underground mining that includes custom made wireless 802.11 access points, VoIP, RFID tracking of personnel and assets and remote telemetry for environmental monitoring. The system is designed to increase productivity and safety in hazardous locations and included intrinsically safe hardware development and certification.
Implemented and managed change in core company direction, culture and technology while maintaining a 10 million dollar legacy product line of rechargeable cap lamps.

Mandate: Commercialize and commission a cutting-edge hardware and software communications platform, manage the engineering group and bring satellite-delivered internet and push-technology services to both end-users and businesses.
The KPN platform was a new initiative for the Delivery of Broadband Internet and Multicast push-technology applications which included a file delivery service, a web caching product and a video delivery system for on-demand movies, all of which delivered their content via a cost-effective receive-only satellite dish and DVB receiver.
Managed the Engineering team charged with System Operation, development, and custom integration projects. Managed departments included Operations, R&D, Pre-Sales Engineering, Integration/Installation Engineering and Customer Service.
5 million dollar platform including Cisco routers and switches, computer servers and satellite uplink equipment transmitting to the SES-ASTRA satellite fleet.

Interpacket was engaged in the Delivery of high bandwidth Internet connections via satellite and terrestrial circuits, both for Internet and for VoIP telephony especially in developing countries. The European operation was responsible for all terrestrial circuits, satellite services and uplinks in Europe and a 7/24 network operations center to handle installations, network monitoring and customer service. It was also responsible for a push-technology Internet news service that pushed content to servers via set-top receivers.

North American content was via a satellite backhaul directly to the MAE East in the USA and European content was provided by local leased-line.

Successfully installed and maintained 75 two-way (uplink/downlink) satellite earth stations operating in C-band and Ku-band frequencies
