description: The thesis has the goal to provide a complete scheme of a Earth-Mars Solar-Photon Sailing Space Shuttle, in order to analyze the availability, the requirements and the performances obtained in terms of Transfer Time. We investigate the time-optimized interplanetary orbital transfer trajectories from Earth to Mars and vice versa with a multi-arc trajectory. The developed MATLAB code analyzes the opportunities for a Shuttle Mission by using a Solar- Photon Sail in the 2020-2030 frame, and the 3D transfer orbit has been time minimized in the sense of Non Linear Programming by means of three distinct trajectory arcs, each of one has a constant attitude profile in terms of azimuth and elevation angles, in the HOF reference frame.

I am confident with advanced concepts of GNSS, and my principal field of interest is regarding the Orbit Determination of LEO/MEO satellites.
March 2015 - September 2015 Internship at ’Thales-Alenia Space Italy - Rome
Description: GALSEE IOCE, GALileo System Evaluation Equipments - Independent Orbit and Clocks Estimator, a Deimos Engenharia software. The GALSEE shall be designed and developed as an independent facility for the verification of GALILEO system in the IOV phase, using, as much as possible, measurement instruments, analysis methods and processing techniques independent of the ones used in Galileo operational elements. The IOCE software is able to perform the orbit determination and the clocks estimation of the mixed GPS and GALILEO Constellations. One of the most important task I was undertaking was the daily monitoring of the activity of the IOCE analysis and the development of a specific automatic tool performing Orbit Determination and Time Synchronization analysis, able to processing data from IOCE, through the use of statistical techniques. Another important analysis covered the critical scenario where some of the ground stations of the Galileo Ground Segment have been switched-off due to an undefined critical failure (Galileo Sensor Stations Removal Impact analysis), and the performance of the system have been analyzed and compared with the operating scenario. Similarly, a complementary analysis has been conducted regarding only the PTF observations (PTF Data Removal), in which I studied the effects of data removal from the observations relative to the Master Station.
