    i.    Lasercom adaptively optimizing transmitter design (Thesis was carried out with support from Space Physics laboratory, VSSC, ISRO) :
        A novel design methodology to adaptively optimize the laser communication (lasercom) satellite transmitter by incorporating a knowledge base related to research results, atmospheric modeling for virtual communication and a learning mechanism. Laser communication, envisaged to be the next generation wireless communication especially in space domain is severely and differently affected by stochastic atmospheric conditions like attenuation and turbulence. The thesis work proposed an unconventional design of a cognitive, adaptively optimizing transmitter that ensure optimum performance with respect to BER and link margin throughout transmission.

    ii.    Lasercom system optimizer tool (Mini project): A novel user interface based optimization tool that aids a system design engineer to optimize the laser satellite communication system by a virtual communication analysis through atmospheric modeling, in an iterative feedback mechanism. The tool which can act as both a testbed and an optimizer, finally yields an optimum design parameter set for a given atmospheric condition.

    iii.    Polarisation shift keying modulation in gamma-gamma distributed channel for laser communication (Seminar 1): PolSK logic, implementation and comparison with conventional modulation schemes were comprehended and presented. PolSK for lasercom is better based on the fact that the State of Polarization (SOP) is least affected by atmospheric conditions. Comparison of the turbulent channel distribution was also studied and found that gamma-gamma distribution best suites all the turbulent regimes.

    iv.    Lasercom tailored to space missions (Seminar 2): A study on the architectural perspective and implementation of space mission based laser communication.


    i.    BLUE WAND (Main project): A handy device that can control a Bluetooth enabled device using simple hand gestures. Its integral part is the Accelerometer Sensor ADXL 202E that senses acceleration along 2 axes, which is then converted to corresponding signals. 8051 microcontroller is been programmed to make the device function accordingly. It makes use of Bluetooth communication and the device is potential enough to make a revolution replacing all the existing controlling devices like remote control, overcoming its limitation of light of sight control.

    ii.    INTELLIGENT ATM CABIN (Mini Project): The project aimed at saving power and enabling some security measures inside an ATM cabin. The room’s temperature will be controlled automatically according to the requirement and the interior lighting controlled as of need, thus saving power. Security measures have been implemented by restricting the time a customer can take for transactions inside ATM cabin.

    iii.    INTERSTELLAR PROPULSION-SPACE SAIL (Main Seminar): A different propulsion mechanism for interstellar travels that may otherwise take one human lifetime to cover the same distance. It makes use of solar ray’s pressure to push forward the light weight sail. The material of the sail and the various electronic equipment in the sail are ingeniously designed, to make it extremely light weight at the same time durable and efficient.


    i.    Doordarshan Kendra (DDK), Trivandrum, Kerala: Had 3 weeks in-plant training at DDK, Trivandrum where theoretical and hands on exposure was gained in different sections. The units comprised recording, audio and video storage, non-linear editing sections, satellite transmission and terrestrial transmission. The complete transmission chain and the technology behind each single entity were understood.

    ii.    ISRO Satellite Centre (ISAC): Industrial visit to ISAC helped in gaining knowledge about the various satellite design approaches, materials used, launch strategies etc.

    iii.    Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO): The different phases of chip designing and advancements in the field were understood.


    i.    Expertise in MATLAB Programming and its constituents like Simulink, Graphical User Interface (GUI) Development Environment (GUIDE) and Database Toolbox
