    Configuration Management team, ESEO satellite project

    2/2009 to 09/2011 – An active member, and since 2010 a Team Leader, of the Configuration Management team in the ESEO (European Student Earth Orbiter) student project under ESA educational office, implemented by CGS (Carlo Gavazzi Space), and since 2010 by SSTL. The team advanced ESEO project to the System Preliminary Design Review. Area of responsibility: satellite configuration management, 3D models and assembly (CATIA software), requirement discrepancy control, assembly procedures, project documentation.

     

    Professional Experience

    Engineering Design Centre (GEAE Engineering site in Warsaw), Design Engineer

    Since 7/2012 – Position of a Design Engineer at Engineering Design Centre (EDC), created under an agreement between General Electric Aircraft Engines (GEAE) and the Warsaw Institute of Aviation. EDC is one of several global GE establishments located outside the United States. I am employed in the GE Aviation business, and working on cold section of the F414, F404, J85 engines. Since 2012 I had been working mostly on fan/compressor aerofoils, occasionally on structures, and became F404/F414 compressor aerofoil hardware owner in 2014. Since 4th quarter of 2014 my focus has changed to F404 rotors, with a long term plan of becoming main focal point for this hardware.

    The work included several business voyages to manufacturing sites in USA and Canada, where I worked on Changes in Design for quality escaped hardware, with use of statistical tools. Moreover, I conducted inspection of hardware removed from the field in order to extend their usable life cycle for a Performance Based Logistic (PBL) project.

    My experience includes one year of an active role in development and coordination of a set of lab tests, meant to downselect a new abradable coating. This effort is a part of a Component Improvement Program (CIP), covering tollgate 4 to 6

    Results of my projects were recognised on a number of occasions by both a customer and the company. My portfolio includes rewards for “Customer Service”, “Clear Thinker”, and “Outstanding Teamwork”. In addition, I was nominated to the Project Execution Award at 2014 Engineering Recognition Day,

    Areas of responsibility: production process approvals (Vendor Substantiation Engineering), evaluation of nonconforming production materials (Material Review Board or MRB process), changes in design, design support for manufacturing sites, field event evaluations and forming recommendations for a customer, root cause investigations, changes in manuals/technical order limits and limit releases, mechanical FE analyses, lab test coordination, statistical evaluations.

     

    Military Aircraft Works No.4 in Warsaw, Recuperation of turbojet engines

    8/2011 – One month ofinternship at Military Aircraft Works No.4 in Warsaw. I worked at disassembly of turbojet engines and gave assistance in their recuperation process.

    • Participant in the Material Review Board (MRB) – essentially acting as limited authority Designated Engineering Representative (DER) for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) but not formally certified as DER by the FAA. MRB is part of GE’s FAA production certificate. In context of military hardware, jurisdiction is under Department of Defence (DoD).
