1- Designed and developed many fault localization protocols for next generation all-optical DWDM networks that guarantees fast localization, reduces over all network cost and increases scalability and simplicity. These protocols can also be applied to any high-speed switches / routers (Java and C/C++).
Researched the weak points for all existing intra-domain and inter-domain localization protocols in traditional IP and All-optical networks
Designed and implemented a brand new Multi-fault localization protocol known as Parallel Limited Perimeter Vector Matching (P-LVM) that speed up the localization process and can localize multiple failures at the same time without the need of any power monitoring device.
Designed, Implemented and analyzed the performance of an Inter-domain fault localization protocol for Multi-Domain all-optical networks, this new protocol avoids exchanging any vital information about network topology among different Optical Domains through out the localization process and still does not require power monitoring devices.
Simplified the node architecture by eliminating the needs of all power monitoring devices in the physical layer that introduce high cost and scalability issues as the optical network size grow.
Defined an interaction rules and policies between intra-domain and inter-domain localization protocol. Furthermore, defined interaction mechanism between fault localization protocols and intra and inter-domain routing protocols such as OSPF and BGP.
2- Constructed and developed mathematical models for next generation high-speed all-optical networks to optimize traffic distribution to promote fast localization which leads to fast protection and restoration
Constructed a mathematical model to optimize traffic distribution in a way that meets the Limited Perimeter Vector Matching (LVM) fault localization protocol conditions so that the fault localization probability in terms of the number of localized links can be maximized.
Constructed another mathematical model to optimize traffic distribution so that the required time for localizing any failed link using LVM is minimized.
Formulated the fault localization optimization problems into an integer linear programming (ILP) problem and used the CPLEX optimization tool to solve the formulated problems.
Created a heuristic algorithm to validate the mathematical models results obtained by CPLEX optimization tool, this heuristic approach attempts to satisfy LVM protocol constraints by assigning the appropriate costs to each link.
3- Researched, Implemented, Simulated, Tested and Presented complex ideas.
Synthesized and presented complex ideas to different government research agencies and industrials companies.
Used different software simulation tools such as OPNET to study the performance of the researched network configurations or network topologies.
