    VMSI's Senior Vice President of Corporate Strategy and Development recruited me to direct enterprise
capability improvement strategy development, product development infrastructure gap closure planning, and tactical execution of these initiatives. VMSI was assessed at less than CMMI level 1 when I started
this role. And only 24 months later we were assessed at CMMI level 3.5 by an independent agency that
projected our improvement plans would have the organization at CMMI level 5 in less than 12 additional
months. This would be the fastest organizational capability growth from level 1 to 5 the auditing agency
had seen to date. We piloted all of the improvements in our Symphony Solutions Capture business and
saw large improvements in every category.

company. I accepted the challenge, analyzed the infrastructure and funding needs, and proposed that we
create a development center for advanced technology systems (DCAT) to address capability gap issues
in the enterprise. I received authority to create the center and execute this new leadership
role. After I built and staffed the center the intrapreneurial promise of "DCAT" was recognized by a large and very well funded conglomerate. ESP was aggressively
pursued and successfully acquired during the early stages of harvesting the benefits of all this work

     

    Accomplishments:

     

    • Created the ESP Strategic Plan for Growth in Renewable Energy Systems – 2, 5, and 10 year roadmap

     

    • Strategically planned, pursued, and captured funded contracts with CARB, SCAQMD, ICAT, AZDEQ, others

the opportunity to create and personally lead the new organization in an executive capacity. This venue
combined the features of advanced technology and product concept development, with proof of concept
demonstrations, and new business development, corporate intrapreneurship, and strategic partnerships
development. It showcased our skills with; propulsion engines, power systems, and automatic controls. I secured more than $5B in investment and we generated orders of magnitude more in product revenues from the new business volume we generated

     

    Accomplishments:

     

    • Led department efforts securing 68 patents & 39 trade secrets for new product technologies we introduced

leadership of development engineering activities at multiple domestic and international locations. Several
of our most innovative propulsion engines and power systems were developed while I served in this role. I was the only combination propulsion engine thermodynamicist and electronic control system development engineer in Tucson

     

    Accomplishments:

     

    • Created first modular distributed system electronic control architecture for large engine families

     

    • Created first modular integrated low cost business aviation electronic control system for small engine families

     

    • Contained all scope creep and managed all budgets, schedules, and requirements to 95% of baseline goals

    • Created a high temp tolerant all ceramic propulsion engine prototype and the accompanying control system
