    Consultant on Structural Design and System Qualification working on a number of Space Projects of OHB-Luxspace. Main Project was ESAIL micro-Satellite, responsible for Structural Qualification.  Also working with AIV / AIT tasks and being responsible for three major ESAIL Suppliers in the UK, France and Spain. Work on new micro-Satellite platform project Triton-X.  Technical Structural direction of projects reporting to the Project Manager and coordinating a group of Engineers working on the Projects.

    1/11/2015 – 31/12/2016 System Engineer at THALES Cryogenics, Eindhoven, Netherlands 

    System Engineer working on a number of Cryo-Cooler subs-systems for various projects including the MTG future mission. Overall technical responsibility of projects reporting to the Project Manager and running a group of engineers working on the Projects.

    Day to day activities and duties spread along the whole cycle from Design to Qualification and Acceptance of CPA (Compressor Assemblies) which are central in LPTC Cryo-Cooler machines that ensure Cryogenic Temperatures at Detector level to guarantee high levels of Radiometric performance. Working and managing Design, Analysis and Qualification Tests (Modal, micro-Vibration, Vibration, Thermal Vacuum Cycling, Pressure, Leak, Electrical, Performance).

    5 / 2014 – 8 / 2015:          Resident Engineer of OHB-M System AG, Space, Munich Germany                       

    Relocated by OHB-M from Munich to Madrid Spain in order to oversee, guide and control the day to day work of a number of their MTG Instrument (FCI-TA and IRS) Suppliers (Airbus Defense & Space, SENER, Iberespacio, LIDAX).

    Duties included supervision and control of Technical, Schedule, Manpower and Cost aspects of the work of the Suppliers. Daily work includes acting as a focal point for information exchange via on the spot clarifications, answer provision and decision taking. Control and guidance is extended to second level of Suppliers in terms of Telecoms, WebEx meetings and assistance in various working and progress meetings.   

    5 / 2012 – 5 / 2014:   Lead Structural Engineer (IRS MTG), OHB, Munich, Germany                    

    Worked as an external Consultant carrying out Lead Structural Engineer duties of the IRS MTG Instrument for the Munich Germany based Kayser-Threde, now OHB-M Space Company. The project (still ongoing) is the Meteo-Sat Third Generation (MTG). Responsible for running a group of seven engineers (Design, Analysis, Performance and Interface). 

    Duties included Structural Design guidance, control and assessment in conjunction with Thermal, Performance, AIT and V&V Depts. Liaison with other departments within OHB-M, with Industrial client, ESA and Control and guidance of IRS Suppliers. Preparation for and representation of OHB-M System AG in various meetings (Progress, PDRs, MRRs, etc.).

    10 / 2009 – 2 / 2012:        Structural Engineering Consultant, IBERESPACIO, Madrid, Spain                       

    Worked as an External Specialist Consultant for IBERESPACIO, a Madrid based Space Company specializing in Heat Transport Pipe based products. The following is a number of Projects of direct work involving the Mechanical Design Responsibility of the final product:

    SENTINEL 3-SLSTR RA/HPA Structure, SGEO – PSA, TESAT, AMOS4, ELSA Active Antenna.

    Responsibilities and Duties in these Projects included: Guiding the Mechanical Design, Defining and supporting FEM Analysis (performing predictions of Mechanical and Acoustic tests) and being responsible for it. AIV / AIT Specifying technical Plans and Procedures for mechanical and acoustic test campaigns, performing FEM predictions of the same, Performing the Vibration (Sine, Random, Quasi-Static, Shock, Micro-Vibration), Acoustic test campaigns, Controlling the client-subcontractors, Providing schedule planning and cost budgets, Liaison with clients (ESA, Primes, Subcontractors) and preparation for and participation to various meetings (Progress, PDR, CDR, TRR, TRB, etc.)

    ARTEMIS Satellite: Micro-vibration test campaign responsible on EM. Liaison with Analysis department, definition of FEMs, their accuracy and reduction equivalence, forced response predictions of micro-vibration inputs, damping variation study and correlation/updating strategy. Hands-on performance of micro-vibration test campaign (micro-vibration inputs and their localization, transmissibility and damping quantification on various instruments, etc.). Reporting to ALENIA TURIN and ESA on methodology, results and project control.

    HISPASAT Antennas: FEM Analysis and its validation, Test Modal and Vibration (Sine, Random, Shock, Quasi-Static, Notch definition and justification and Acoustic excitation), SHM based on Modal test strategies.    

    HELIOS Satellite: Protective cover deployment mechanism dynamics characterization and operational deployment measurements. ASCAT / METOP: FEM modeling supervision and predictive Analysis. Modal and Vibration Test, FEM Updating. 

    SILEX: Iso-static Mounting Platform Project funded by ESA. Participation and contribution to the project involved trade-off studies for composite and metal material selection, high stiffness, long and short term stability, CTEs, CMEs, etc. material characterization, modal, vibration, micro-vibration tests, thermal cycling tests

    ENVISAT: Shock Attenuation Device Modal characterization, Separation shock and displacement response measurements; Correlation with FEM predictions

    HERCHEL-PLANCK: Dynamic test qualification of strut rod performed at ESTEC

    LARDAL ESA R&D project: Study of variances in dynamic response of large area, flexible antenna type structures when under vacuum (helium) and normal ground environments.  

    AMADEUS: Conception, Initiation, Proposal preparation and Coordination of the Brite-Euram project AMADEUS (BRPR-CT98-0688) working on Accurate Modeling and Damage Detection of Critical Space Structures.
