    GPS Field Test Engineer

     

    Project Manager in Planning and Executing field characterization of the performance of position location capabilities of numerous Qualcomm AMSS commercial firmware releases, including but not limited to the flagship Snapdragon chipsets.

    Capabilities tested include Standalone GPS only, Assisted-GPS, Sensor Assisted GPS, Wi-Fi Assisted GPS, GPS with XTRA as well as constellations including GPS, GLONASS, and Beidou.

     

    Presenting weekly, the summary analysis and issues found during the week of testing. The audience including pertinent test persons, systems, development and marketing team members – locally as well as when applicable, remote locations such as San Diego, Irvine, Finland and India.

     

    Creating effective, concise and clear documentation for build loading procedures for multiple chipsets, device configurations, network provisioning, test methodologies, test execution instructions as well as trouble shooting tips. Train other personnel including newly hired test and development persons in the setup of devices and field test methodologies. Training of other test persons in installation and configuration of PDMs.

     

    Lab Coordinator and ESD Compliance officer for Field Test Lab. Responsible for Quarterly ESD testing of Work Surfaces and Shelves spaces within the Field Test lab and making sure ESD compliance requirements are being followed.  

     

    Fleet Administrator for field test team, managing the maintenance schedules for Team Vehicles. This includes routine service, Annual smogging, and registration/insurance renewals. Also managing the Business Fuel account of monthly use, presenting fuel usage reports to reflect the teams productivity each month and managing the distribution/use of account pin numbers of each team member. 

    QUALCOMM, INC (2009 – 2013)

    Field Testing of GPS and Modem performance and development throughout the US and Foreign Telecomm markets. .

    GPS Field Test Technician III

     

    Project Lead for installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of the Novatel SPAN-CPT and Applanix Ground truth systems in field test vehicles. Also responsible for evaluating NovAtel Span-CPT IMU system in a pedestrian scenario outfitted onto a Chariot stroller. This effort required multiple follow ups with Novatel support, multiple firmware and controller updates as well as figuring out the correct test methodologies and post-processing profiles.

     

    Responsible for static site surveys in Seattle, San Francisco, Santa Clara, San Diego and other locations which need surveyed static ground truth points using The GeoXH 6000 Unit from Trimble.

     

    Planning, execution, analysis and post-mortems of multiple field excursions out of state – Chicago (performance in tunnels) , Seattle (E911 baselining, GPS over Control Plane UMTS), New Jersey (GPS E911 testing over CDMA), Manhattan and New York City (GPS vs. Sensor Based positions in motion scenarios), Taiwan (support Rf recorder efforts).

     

    Performed multiple RF Recordings using Averna RF Recorder in motion scenarios such that these scenarios can be canned and used for regression testing, in San Diego, India as well as locally. Also execute, analyzed and presented GPS software regression testing using the Averna RF Playback units and the recorded scenarios.

     

    Coordinator and Team lead/Trainer in Device setups on lab environments (PLTS) as well as live networks such as; AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon over LTE/UMTS/WCDMA/GSM/CDMA/EvDo.

     

    QUALCOMM, INC (2007 – 2009)

    Field Testing of GPS and Modem performance and development throughout the US and Foreign Telecomm markets. .

    GPS Field Test Technician II

     

    Install, configure and maintain various generations of Qualcomm Position Determination modules (PDMs) to support new PDM feature testing, as well as to support other lab and field test engineers.

     

    Experienced in manipulation of Perl and Python scripts in order to trigger the A-GPS engine of devices for the sole purpose of specifying and the executing of specific testing modes.

     

    INTER-COASTAL ELECTRONICS (2006 to 2007)

    Designs and manufactures state-of-the-art live training, telemetry and test instrumentation systems for U.S. DOD and foreign militaries. 

     

    Field Technician I

    Fabricated, repaired, installed and provided field engineering support of GPS devices and communication repeater network.

    Provide daily customer field support in order to implement setup changes, new installs of devices on aircraft, as well as responding to ongoing issues within the network.

     

    Field Technician I , Field Op / Fort Stewart Army Base, Hinesville, Georgia (Feb 2007 to  Mar 2007)

    Setup Repeater network and Smotar software for monitoring purposes. Instrumentation and standby technical support for GPS Tracking systems. Installed GPS tracking system and avionic technical support for UH-47 and AH-64D model aircrafts,

     

    Field Technician I , Field Op / Fort Hood Army Base, Killeen, Texas (Sep 2006 to  Oct 2006)

    Setup Repeater network and Smotar software for monitoring purposes. Instrumentation and avionic tech support for TESS Weapon Training System and GPS Tracking system for AH-64D model aircraft. Recorded daily battle files using Smotar 4 software and submitted files to OC training officer in charge of platoon / unit.
