Title: Vegetation Mapping to assess the Quality of Peatlands in The Flow Country, Using Optical and InSAR Remote Sensing Platforms.
This is a collaborative research project studies the ecological aspects of peatlands in the Flow Country (large areas of the North of Scotland). My role is to define the methodology to assess the condition of peatlands regarding their vegetation cover, using remote sensing technology including optical (Sentinel 2 and InSAR).

Co-supervision of an exchange PhD student: I worked proactively with a colleague from China on 3D modelling research project in Shanghai. My role was to provide guidance on using the sparse representation method to increase the spatial resolution of IKONOS to detect the buildings’ edge in this study.
Co-supervision of an MSc student: I acted as a supervisor on MSc dissertation entitled “using sparse representation to enhance the performance of a series of SPOT images for crop mapping using a single IKONOS imagery”. I transferred the concept of the sparse representation method and helping the student to develop a method for his research.
Supervising BSc students: I engaged the interest and enthusiasm of the several undergrad students on their dissertations on using various remote sensing data sets and image processing techniques into different environmental applications.

I support the teaching objectives of the Geography and Environment Academic Unit by delivering teaching to students at undergraduate level, through allocated lectures, tutorials, practical, in remote sensing and/or environmental change.
I designed various geographical projects in the GIS Field Trip for MSc students. For example, I defined surveying/mapping project including teaching the students who to use DGPS.
