    PROFILE


    I’m a Telecommunications Engineer with an MSc in Spacecraft Design and, during my University studies, I have learnt the basics of project management, as well as enriched my passion for technology and innovation. Moreover, during the studies, cooperation among students has been always promoted by proposing group projects.
    My early professional experience has been in a technology transfer company. It has let me test the knowledge achieved in the University, which has been really useful for analyzing several kinds of technologies. Moreover, I have been able to know most of the latest technology developments in many different fields, which has let me learn about them and has helped me realize how fascinating the space sector is. Furthermore, thanks to the different co-worker profiles, I have seen different work methodologies and points of view that have been interesting for improving my own ones.
    At this point, my professional aim is to work in the space industry, where I can actively contribute to the development and operation of systems that are sent to space. Nonetheless, I’d still like to keep on studying and educating myself in the field of space systems.
    Finally, regarding my hobbies, I’ve always had a passion for team sports such as basketball as well as those that challenge a person’s capabilities and push one’s limits such as climbing, as well as following the latest technological and scientific discoveries. When my studies and job allow me, I also cooperate with the human tower group in Granollers. Human towers are a Catalan tradition and a perfect example of teamwork and what can be achieved with a huge group of people with the same objective and the right motivation and coordination.

    Brief description of the company: CCAR is dedicated to the study of astrodynamics and the application of satellites to science, navigation, and remote sensing of the Earth and planets. It is hosted by the Colorado Aerospace Department of the Colorado University in Boulder, which has been repeatedly ranked as an American university with top aerospace programs.

    GNSS LABORATORY
    Visiting Scholar

    The main activities carried out as a researcher of the GNSS Lab, especially as a member of the electronics development unit, can be divided into two categories: old and new designs. In regards to the old designs, activities revolve around compiling, understanding, and reviewing older designs in order to bring them back to a production stage after a rather long pause, meaning that also components and their part numbers have to be checked for availability and good standing. On the other hand, for new designs, tasks consist in developing new GNSS receivers and parts, starting from the definition of design requirements, following with the mechanical (sizes, materials, shapes, etc.) and electrical design (component comparison and selection, connections, footprints, layout, routing, etc.), and performing basic mechanical and electrical simulations. Some activities have been common for both types of projects, such as detecting potential manufacturers for the different parts, generating the required files for obtaining a quote and production, and following up with the whole production and testing phases.
    My direct supervisor has been Prof. Dennis M. Akos, leader of the research group in GNSS.

     

    2013 (October) – 2015 (August) Knowledge Innovation Market (KIMbcn), Barcelona, Spain. Technology Transfer.
    Brief description of the company: Technology transfer company based in Barcelona that focuses on increasing the Return of the Investment (RoI) of a company’s R&D projects.

    TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER DEPARTMENT
    Technology Analyst
    The activities performed by a technology analyst at KIMbcn are, among others, performing technology evaluations in order to prioritize, according to several technological, IP and market aspects, a technology portfolio in order to detect the technologies with the highest commercial potential. Furthermore, other studies are performed, such as Market Analyses, Technology Scouting studies or technology commercialization projects. Moreover, during my stay as a Technology Analyst, I’ve worked in 3 other ESA Projects, where new technologies have been analysed along with a 1-month stay at ESTEC, Noordwijk during the summer 2014 and another 3-month stay during the summer 2015.
    My direct superiors as a Technology Analyst were the Project Manager and the Administration Manager.
    Project Manager
    As a Project Manager, apart from executing different projects, more emphasis is put on the relationship with the client, scheduling the different check-points and deliverables, selecting the most adequate personnel and managing the co-workers. Other duties of a Project Manager relate to making sure the results match the company quality standards, the projects are handed to the client in time and the results cover the client’s needs while still being profitable for the company.
    My direct superior as a Project Manager was the Administration Manager.

    Technology Portfolio Manager
    Taking into account that KIMbcn is a company that, among other projects, helps other companies commercialize their technologies, the role of a Portfolio Manager is to keep the portfolio well organized as well as keep track of several Open Innovation websites and notify the appropriate Project Manager when someone is interested in a particular technology. As a Portfolio Manager, it is also important to prepare the required material (technology brochures, presentations, etc.) for when a Project Manager assists to an event where technologies can be introduced to other companies that may be interested in acquiring them.
    My direct superior as a Project Manager was the Administration Manager.

    Intern
    As an Intern in KIMbcn, I worked in the European Space Agency Project, where the ESA technology portfolio was evaluated and prioritized. 11 KIM members with different University studies worked together by analyzing more than 170 technologies and their related patents, proposing new applications outside the space sector and scoring several aspects in order to determine the ones with the highest potential for commercialization. Furthermore, during my internship stay I also collaborated in some other smaller projects relating to the automotive industry and the green-tech sector.
    My direct superior during this internship was the project manager and technology transfer leader.
