Graduation Thesis Title: “SPACECRAFT ATTITUDE ESTIMATION USING BAYESIAN NON LINEAR FILTERS”
Internship at: Thales Alenia Space Italia SpA
    Thesis advisor: prof. Riccardo Marino
Thesis abstract: an accurate study on estimation of attitude of rigid and nonrigid bodies was carried out. This was aimed to the industrial application in the aerospace field; in particular the method used by the non linear extensions of the Kalman Filter, EKF and UKF, was studied and applied to the model of a spacecraft with the objective of comparing the estimation performances.

Final grade: 110 out of 110 summa cum laude

    A.Y. 2007/08 - 2009/10
University/School: Università degli Studi di Roma “Tor Vergata”
Title of qualification awarded: Undergraduate course in Control Engineering (Laurea Triennale)
First level degree: BSc degree in Control Engineering
Graduation Thesis Title: “PROJECT OF THE CONTROL SYSTEM FOR A SHAPE MEMORY ALLOY ACTUATOR INVERTING THE PROCESS OF HYSTERESIS OF THE MATERIAL”
Experimental thesis at: the Heavy Robotics Laboratory of the faculty of Engineering, University of Rome “Tor Vergata”
    Thesis advisor: prof. Daniele Carnevale
Thesis abstract: an accurate study on the behavior of shape memory alloys was carried out through the observation of the working behavior of a NiTiNol actuator. Then the hysteresis process of the shape memory material (the NiTiNol) was studied and a model of it was implemented on a microprocessor to have a feed-forward information regarding its future behavior. The control system for the actuator was finally projected inverting the implemented model.
