The candidate has demonstrated a wide variety of capabilities during 35 years in the space industry, primarily in a Propulsion discipline, operating mainly within Europe, with all major space system manufacturers, in UK, France, Germany, Italy, Sweden and the Netherlands.
His knowledge of spacecraft and an insightful appreciation of the health and performance of all other integral subsystems has been gained over his time spent in the design, production and testing of many kinds of spacecraft, from Geostationary telecommunications platforms to smaller Earth Observation satellites, utilising both bipropellant and monopropellant propulsion systems. Additional experience has been gained in launcher systems and hardware development and Ground Equipment design and development.
In understanding the place of propulsion within a space system, the candidate has become familiar with the challenges and day-to-day issues pertaining to all subsystems and has an in-depth knowledge of spacecraft reliability, and its role in manufacturing, integration and test processes.
Along with a comprehension of design and management roles, the candidate is familiar with the application of standards (for example, ECSS), the importance of constant Product and Quality Assurance, and the formulation and criticality of specifications and associated protocols, lately performed a Technical PA Management role in ESA Exomars Parachute Deployment Devicee development, to CDR.
The candidate remains involved in Business Development activities for new space products and systems, in hardware design, system operations and supply chain roles.
A team player in every sense, the candidate has shown an aptitude for International co-operation, an ability to work within teams of different cultures and nationalities with deference and respect and a determination to lead a team to success, through applying its strengths and exposing weakness early to allow a solution to be found without affecting schedule or budgets.
