    Professional Experience

    QinetiQ Australia, Engineer

    May 2018 - Present

I am currently working with the QinetiQ Special Projects team to undertake bespoke tasks, which does not fall under standard aircraft platforms or the Aircraft Structural Integrity contract. These tasks can range from conceptual design and structural analysis, to developing new capabilities for QinetiQ. Our team recently developed a new company capability to analyse thermal cycled explosive ordnance to determine shock sensitivity as a safety concern. This required quick learning of thermal analysis fundamentals and modelling, and its effect on ordnance energetics.

Abaqus, Nastran and Patran for Finite Element Analysis

Understanding of thermal analysis fundamentals and modelling using Abaqus

Modelling and engineering drawings, using Inventor and AutoCAD

‘Engineering Authority Development Plan’ for checking of engineering drawings

    QinetiQ Australia, Mechanical Engineer

    August 2015 – May 2018

As a Mechanical Engineer with QinetiQ’s manufacturing facility, I supported the fast paced delivery of products to Australia’s Defence Science and Technology Group. Working directly with clients, I had the opportunity to partake in the full product life cycle. I gained significant experience in mechanical design and analysis, as well as verification and validation activities.

Design for manufacturing and assembly of mechanical systems

Lead Mechanical Engineer for the production phase of QinetiQ’s Engine Change Capability

Gained Company Competencies: Classic Stress Analysis, Mechanical and Structural Design, Engineering Design and Drawing, and Computer Aided Design and Drawing (Advanced)

QinetiQ Australia ‘Excellence in Innovation Award’ and nominee for QinetiQ Global Innovation Award

    TS&B Retail Systems, Design Engineer

    January 2015 - August 2015

I worked as part of a Research and Development team to design, verify and certify modular shelving systems for Australia’s largest retail companies. This position required communication to our manufacturing division in China to deliver successful products.

Concept design and development using SolidWorks

    Design for manufacturing and assembly

    Presentation of designs to clients

Manufacturing drawings for large volume manufacturing

    Bremar Automation, Work Experience Engineer

    March 2014 - January 2015

As a Work Experience Engineer, I contributed to client projects using Finite Element Analysis and Multi-Body Dynamics. This position also afforded me the opportunity to learn Shape Topology Optimisation to further develop prototypes to lightweight deliverables.

    Design using Siemens NX 8.5

    Altair Hyperworks Suite
