    Cover Letter

    Dears recruiters.

As a Physicist with a Ph.D. in Space Geophysics and Geomagnetism, and having worked in research, development, analysis and creation of engineering solutions for almost twenty years, so I believe I possess a certain synergy with your organization.

My MSc and PhD projects was focused in geomagnetism with thesis in geomagnetic micropulsations. I worked with geomagnetic micropulsations measured by three-component magnetometer dedicating more time to the study and analysis of micropulsations time series using the multitaper Fourier spectral and polarization method. I adapted this method which was used for the analysis of seismograms records to geomagnetic micropulsations time series. This involve the calculus of Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) to determinate the polarization, the ellipticity and the azimuth angle of the electromagnetic waves.

In my postdoctoral program, I worked mainly with wavelets and multiwavelets applied to many kinds of time series. I extended and adapted the multitaper method to multiwavelets spectral and polarization method to study other phenomena, such as meteorology, solar physics, and geophysics multi-channel time series. Moreover, I have applied the wavelets technique to the study of symmetry and self-similarity in the wavelet spectrum, fractal and multifractal system, geophysics time series, tree-ring width and also heart beating time series (electrocardiograms). Further, I have researched the periodicity in tree ring width data using wavelet analysis, as well other meteorological time series. During his career dedicated to scientific computing it was developed in a programming language that includes Fortran, C, Matlab, and Python.

Throughout my career to date, I have had the opportunity to apply my skills and experience to leading, innovative engineering companies in both South America and South Africa, working on research and development projects in multi-disciplinary areas. These have included digital signal processing, computational sciences, computational physics and applied mathematics, electro-optical systems, infrared radiometry and simulations, visible and infrared remote sensing, infrared measurements and modelling, infrared simulations, time-frequency analysis, space physics, space geophysics and geomagnetism, which can be utilized for academic and technological applications.

You may note from my enclosed resume, that I have significant experience within the aerospace area, which has given me the opportunity to expand my skills and to diversify my expertise for various applications. I currently work at Avibras, a Brazilian private engineering company, as a Physicist and Specialist Engineer, helping to research, develop and manufacture innovative technology solutions for the defence and aerospace areas.

I would very much like the opportunity to discuss current and upcoming opportunities at your organization, which may suit my expertise, ideally within the aforementioned disciplines.

Thank you in advance for your time and consideration, please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have.

I look forward to hearing from you.

    Yours Sincerely,
