    I graduated in Telecommunications and Electronic Engineering in 2010, and over these years I have built experience in a variety of lines of work, from radio propagation, antenna and RF component design to networking, structured cabling and user technical support. My main accomplishments have been achieved in the RF propagation field. I obtained a PhD degree (cum laude) from Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM), conducting my research in satellite and 5G indoor propagation modeling at millimeter-wave frequencies. Since I joined the UPM GTIC Research Group, I have been participating in several European projects (mainly ESA projects).

    My publication record can be consulted on Researchgate, LinkedIn and Orcid. I’m the first author of some peer-reviewed articles published in high impact IEEE journals and others, and I have also published several papers and participated in several EuCAP conferences as well as other international and national conferences.


    I’m searching for a new job and to be part of a new interesting and challenging project. I offer my full commitment, as well as my expertise and willingness to learn and improve.


    Work experience

    Radio communication researcher (April 2020-Present)

    Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, Spain.

    Characterization of the satellite propagation channel, experimental data analysis and modeling. I develop part of the necessary MATLAB-based scripts to process data from Madrid satellite experiments. I’m involved in the ESA Project “Large Scale Spatio-Temporal Channel Models for Satcom Design and Operation” AO/1-9956/19/NL/AS.

    I’m also participating in the Horizon 2020 Project “ARIADNE: Artificial Intelligence Aided D-band Network for 5G Long Term Evolution”, Grant no. 871464). My main work is related with the modeling of the impact of rain drops into attenuation at frequencies ranging up to 200 GHz.

           MATLAB/Octave and Python (Spyder, Jupyter, NumPy, pandas, etc.) programming.

          CST MWS simulations of the spherical and non-spherical water drops.

          Strong radio propagation background.

          Contribution to the deliverables of the projects.

    Postdoctoral Researcher (April 2019-March 2020)

    Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, Spain.

    Modeling of terrestrial (E-band) and satellite radio link channels at millimeter-wave frequencies. My main tasks were related to data and script debugging and development of new scripts for data modeling with MATLAB. This work was funded by the Project “Millimeter-wave Channel Modeling and Radio Planning oriented to 5G Networks”, RTI2018-098189-B-I00.

          Millimeter wave measurement campaign at indoor scenarios (LOS and NLOS). Propagation loss  channel modeling.

          Assisting in laboratory classes related to wireless coverage analysis with XIRIO, Ekahau, and Wireless InSide softwares and supervision of under-graduate and master's theses.

    PhD Candidate (April 2016- March 2019)

    Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, Spain.

    Research focused on the millimeter-wave propagation for satellite and indoor channels. Regarding the satellite channel, the propagation at the Ka and Q bands was modeled by means of first- and second-order statistics derived from experimental data. On the other hand, an indoor propagation campaign was set up, modeling the path loss at LOS and NLOS conditions and deriving some MIMO results. The scientific production of this research was presented at different international conferences. The main funding projects were the TEC2014-57821-R “Experimental Characterization of the Atmospheric Propagation and Millimeter-wave Channel Modeling, oriented to their future use in 5G Fixed and Mobile Communication Networks” and the ESA Project “Development of High Order Propagation Models for Multimedia Satellite Communication Systems”, ESA E130935214.

          Setting-up of a millimeter wave indoor propagation experiment: selection of the components (Keysight signal generators, PXI, Steatite antennas, etc.), system calibration, data measurement and processing.

         Testing of millimeter-wave system performance by using spectrum analyzer, oscilloscopes, etc.

         Data storage, maintenance tasks of the satellite receivers and propagation equipment.

         Knowledge of ITU-R, 3GPP standards and mobile standards (2G, 3G, 4G-LTE,5G NR).

    Visiting Researcher (April 2018-July 2018)

    Université Catholique de Louvain, Belgium.

    Doctoral stay focused on using a channel sounder in indoor measurements at microwave frequencies. Assisting in the modeling of propagation data gathered in outdoor conditions, under the supervision of Prof. Claude Oestges.

    Junior Lecturer and RF Researcher (Sept. 2013-March 2016)

    Universidad de Pinar del Río, Cuba.

    During this time I was involved in teaching tasks related with Radio communications and RF components and antennas design. Several microstrip antennas and arrays were designed, reducing their side lobe level via the feed network design.

          RF components (filters, couplers, etc.) and antennas design and simulation with CST MWS, ADS and HFSS software.

         Knowledge of microwave components design.

    Technical Specialist in Communications (Sept. 2014-Sept. 2015)

    Universidad de Pinar del Río, Cuba.

    During this time I carried out routing (CISCO equipment) and networking tasks, aiming at the LAN and WLAN network efficiency. I also provided users support and technical maintenance.



    PhD in Communication Technologies and Systems (cum laude, international mention) (2016-2019)

    Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, Spain.

    My PhD thesis dealt with satellite and indoor propagation at millimeter-wave frequencies (tasks related with gathering the measurements, model fittings and optimizations).

    Master in Telecommunications and Telematics (2011-2014)

    Technological University “José Antonio Echevarría”, La Habana, Cuba.

    The Master thesis presented the design of low side lobe level microstrip antenna arrays (CST MWS, HFSS). A microstrip antenna was designed and implemented as a single element, and the low side lobe level was achieved for a linear array using a corporative feed network. The steering of the main lobe was simulated by strip line phase shifters commuted with pin diodes.

    Telecommunications and Electronics Engineer (2005-2010)

    University of Pinar del Río “Hermanos Saíz Montes de Oca”, Pinar del Río, Cuba.

    My bachelor’s degree project addressed the theoretical aspects of optical waveguides, simulating the several electromagnetic modes traveling by several dielectric waveguide configurations. 



         Strong MATLAB/Octave (more than five years) and intermediate Python programming.

         Design and Simulation of RF components (antennas, filters, etc.) with CST MWS, ADS and HFSS.

         Propagation channel modeling, signal processing, results optimization and statistical analysis.
