     KeywordsHardworking Space Engineer. Dedicated student who worked to pay his own university studies.

    Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Rome "La Sapienza" and subsequent Master's degree in Space and Astronautical Engineering. Carried out two internships at the "Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare" (INFN) in Frascati with a structural background.

    Internship useful for carrying out the thesis for the master's degree. The experience concerns the mechanical qualification of a space motor (Qualification Model), which will be mounted on the INFN-LNF MoonLIGHT project. The work consists of using a vibrating table device to recreate the dynamic environment to which the motor will be subjected during the mission.

    Main activities carried out:

    - Design of the shaker/motor interface plate with requirements regarding modal analysis (resonance frequencies) and the ability to fix the payload in the three orthogonal directions for the test;

    - Activation, calibration and control of the functionality of the entire vibration system, including customization of parameters;

    - Drafting of the test plan and success criteria;

    - Execution of tests;

    - Drafting of a test report.

    The work also involves the use of various tools and software such as:

    - Fluke 724;

    - Thermocouple;

    - Dynamometric screwdrivers;

    - SMD210 motor controller;

    - Accelerometers;

    - Spider 81 (vibrating table control software);

    - MATLAB.

    Internship useful for carrying out the thesis for the Bachelor's degree. The experience consists of studying aerospace missions that have constructed three-dimensional altimetric maps of the Earth's topography by measuring the time of flight of specific laser pulses. An in-depth study of LIDAR and laser ranging technology was therefore carried out, focusing on the laser retroreflectors mounted on the two LEO satellites GLASS and GLASS-2. The study of the operating principle was also carried out by means of visual verification thanks to the observation of the LARRI retroreflector currently mounted on the Martian lander INSIGHT, developed by INFN-LNF. In addition to the technological aspect, the particle physics involved in laser ranging was also studied and critical specifications that are important for making accurate earth maps were examined.
