  • Delivered Integrated Product Team (IPT) efforts delivered significantly under budget, while supporting an on-time execution of ADVENT program demonstrations.

  • Proposed, planned, and led new-start special projects for a variety of customers—increasing in-house capabilities while simultanesously broadening the customer base.

  • Chosen to co-lead a leadership development initiative team.

  • Obtained Lean Sigma Green Belt certification—led efforts to improve a manufacturing effort, while automating and documenting multiple business processes.

Partner, Frontier Astronautics LLC

March 2005 – September 2007

  • Co-founded an entrepreneurial private space company that provided spectular results in rocket propulsion and vehicle attitude control via ultra-low-cost efforts.

  • Designed and led the manufacture of SpeedUp's Laramie Rose, a hovering technology demonstrator to compete in NASA's Lunar Lander Analog Challenge.  Designed electronic architecture to conrol vehicle and provide multiple abort capabilities.  Stable tethered hover test achieved:

  • Planned and executed nine safe, successful firings of Frontier’s Asp, a hydrogen-peroxide monopropellant engine designed to produce 1500 lb thrust—including vectored thrust measurement.

  • Participated in mission safety planning for AFRL's XSS-11, a maneuvering space vehicle demonstrating on-orbit proximity operation--pioneering new orbital safety approaches and coordination with Cheyenne Mountain Operations.

  • Managed risk in support of Undersecretary of Defense decisions--made recommendations that resulted in safe military operations.

  • Chartered a Space Situational Awareness Community of Interest--provideing a foundation for future net-centric warfare and aerospace management efforts.

  • Assessed emerging threat technologies for the National Air and Space Intelligence Center--expanded knowledge of potential threats beyond anecdotes.

  • Performed protection assessment of commercial remote-sensing systems utilized by the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency (NGA).

Officer, United States Air Force

March 1993 – March 2002

  • Air and Space Intelligence Center—expanded knowledge of potential threats beyond anecdotes.Volunteered to manage a struggling organization, Space CHOP, where funding had run out—“sold” mission to outside organizations who funded the effort for the next seven years.

  • Led an eight-member countermeasure engineering team from concept definition to final assembly of hand-built proof-of-concept hardware in only 12 months—hardware functioned as advertised—potential threat was characterized in the first-ever red-team mission against proposed National Missile Defense assets.

  • Participated in foreign materiel exploitation of a state-of-the-art threat aircraft—increasing warfighter threat awareness.

MS, Astronautical Engineering 1996 – 1997

One of only five selected to attend Astro MS program in residence. Succeeded in a fast-paced 18-month program, accumulating credit hours well in excess of those required, while achieving a 3.48 GPA.

University of Colorado, Boulder

BS, Aerospace Engineering 1988 – 1992

Rare student who finished an engineering degree in only eight semesters, even while working part-time and participating in AFROTC. Awarded an AFROTC scholarship. Achieved a 3.35 GPA.
