Personal Statement

Interested in Space related activities from a young age as well as managerial and leadership undertakings, the study of Aerospace Engineering with Management always seemed a natural fit. Recent work in the heart of Washington confirmed ambitions to become part of an active Space Community to help improve access to Space for goods and people.

Benefiting from native skills in French and English and a conversational level in Spanish, the global and multi-cultural nature of today’s world comes with no surprises to a frequent traveller with an open mind.

July-Aug. 2010   Full-time Summer Placement at Polispace, Washington, United States.         An independent Space Policy Consultancy.

Nature of work:   

Make good use of peer valuable expertise and experience in Space Policy to help and advise actors in Commercial Space. Observe and assist major players in today’s private Commercial Space Sector. I attended a conference on suborbital flights with NASA, a round table with the writers of the latest US National Space Policy, the Space Frontier Foundation’s (Co-Founded by Polispace’s Head) conference and a presentation at NASA’s headquarters.

 

Key skills developed:

- Witnessed the Washingtonian political buzz

- Acquired knowledge on the functioning of the Senate, the Congress and NASA

- Reviewed the 2011 NASA Authorization Bill, NASA Budget Comparisons

- Potential clients’ database creation (for Masten Space Systems)

 

June 2009            Two-Week Internship at The Mill, London, United Kingdom               

 

Nature of work:   

The company designs special effects for adverts and TV programs and sends media information all around the world. I had the chance to acquire direct knowledge from staff about the Post Production Industry, its methods and goals. I spent time with specialist in various departments such as Marketing, Telecine (adjustment of videos) and Visual Effects.

- Communicating effectively with senior staff and work colleagues

- Assisting with running tasks

 

December 2004 Internship at Explor@dome, Paris, France

 

Nature of work:    

As an intern, it was my responsibility to present and explain various experiments the company was conducting in order to allow its clients to learn more about scientific phenomena and to put their current knowledge to the test by running the experiments themselves.

 

Key skills developed:

- Self Confidence when presenting experiments to public visitors

- Learnt about scientific phenomena

- Reported on the Company’s Organization

 

Additional Information

Attended the Space Frontier Foundation’s 2010 conference in Sunnyvale and the International Space University 2011 Symposium on “The International Space Station: Maximizing the Return from Extended Operations”.

 

Competent I.T. Skills:Photoshop, Solidworks, Matlab, Microsoft Word/Excel/Powerpoint/Projects.

 

Always enjoyed sports, especially Ski (since age 3, two silver medals for small and giant slalom), Judo (4 years, green-blue belt), Karate (7 years, blue belt), Fourwheeling (3 years, modals and trophies for co-piloting in France, Spane and Morocco) and Salsa (4 years).

 

Active member in the University of Manchester’s societies: Karate Club, Dance Society, Aerospace Society, etc.

 

Created and Administrated an online forum for a year. The aim was to organize and develop strategies for a space-themed game. Experienced leadership and elaborated projects within a team work environment. Required good time management skills. The forum reached 100 members and 20,000 messages.

 

Organized International trips for a group of friends met in California. Created a facebook group (about 90 members) and a committee to plan the various reunions. Managed, edited and shared the digital information collected during each trip. Designed motivational posters. Visited Amsterdam, Madrid, Berlin, Barcelona and Paris so far. Was featured twice in articles of the International House Times published by a student accommodation of Berkeley.
