Recipient of Performance Award for Outstanding Leadership in Astronaut Flight Instruction
* Instructed astronauts and flight controllers in Space Shuttle flight operations, propulsion, guidance and flight control, GNC, systems knowledge, software, avionics, trajectories, and manual flight techniques.
* One of only two non-astronaut personnel ever certified to fly the Space Shuttle as Pilot during launch and entry simulations.
* Trained astronauts and controllers using classroom briefings, one-on-one sessions, and Shuttle simulators.
* Investigated simulated failure scenarios using recorded Shuttle systems data, environmental data, instructor notes and cockpit voice communication to determine underlying cause of catastrophic failures and accidents during simulations.
* Acted as Capsule Communicator (CAPCOM) in high-pressure and fast-paced situations.
* Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Space Shuttle entry through landing guidance functions.
* Worked in teams to develop failure scenarios for shuttle simulations, and authored “failure scripts” to note crew responses, technical knowledge, and communication skills.
* Trained astronauts regarding: Launch Trajectories; Abort Modes and Abort Trajectories; Orbital Mechanics; and Entry Trajectories.

* Evaluated hardware and software requirements for Constellation propulsion systems for Orion Main Engine, Service Module Reaction Control System, Service Module Propellant System, and Command Module Reaction Control System.
* Liaison for crew training to Lockheed Martin Subsystem Design Review and Preliminary Design Review for Propulsion.
* Evaluated: Failure Mode & Effects Analysis documents for propulsion systems and determined failures resulting in Loss of Mission/Loss of Crew; Go/No-Go mission criteria for Orion capsule.
* Assisted on a team that authored and edited design requirements for Constellation Training Facility Simulator, including; Orion on-board software emulation modeling, software interface modeling, Instructor-Simulator interface console requirements, and crew-required simulator fidelity requirements.
