Role:  Software Engineer

Working in the quality assurance area, I have several distinct roles but essentially I bring a new vision/methodologies to solve recurrent problems, connecting the technical team to the stakeholders and management. Some of my responsibilities are:

  • Requirements gathering and analysis (from CEOS, International entities, such as Eurocontrol, air traffic controllers, safety experts, national regulator represents)
  • Perform gap analysis
  • Translate business requirements into IT specifications
  • Reengineer the system design/development processes to be agile and ease communication, manage the implementation of those changes and all the emerging conflicts
  • Introduce new methodologies and upgrade the existing ones
  • Provide training materials and administrate trainee sessions
  • Restructure the documentation templates/guidelines to be in conformity with international standards, imposed legislation and current work procedures
  • Review documentation and perform project conformity/quality reviews
  • Coordinate the attribution of Software Assurance Levels to internal software modules according to International regulations
  • Design and implement an internationally acclaimed hazard management system Manage the integration of the developed hazard management system
  • Create test cases and test scenarios

 

Role: Business Analyst/Project manager                             06/2006 - Present

Since the end of my first year of college I have been working with a group of colleagues developing systems for clients we acquired over the years. Mostly I perform requirement gathering and analysis, develop system specializations and data modelling. Also, I am responsible for the client management activities and projects plan and schedule definition/management. Our main work (jKiwi) won the Portuguese Open Source Contest and has more than half a million users worldwide.

I was an invited researcher for a Portuguese Human Computer Interaction research group for four years. I worked in several projects focusing my attention mainly in user centred studies, requirement gathering and analysis. During the MSc I also attended courses ranging from project management, software quality, cooperative work, to database technologies and advanced interaction techniques. I matured my knowledge in software development methodologies and management through standards and good practices.

This three year BSc mixed fields of computer science and computer engineering, as well as courses from natural sciences.
