Launch satellite to deliver payload and orbit Europa, Spring 2011
- Team lead on a proposal focused on launching a satellite to orbit Europa and deliver a lander. Responsible for propulsion system design and Earth launch configuration. Other tasks include trajectory analysis and structural design.
- Completed an initial design of the satellite; further designs would need better optimization resources
- ClipperSpirit, Fall 2010
- Designed a “modern” composite seaplane to several mission profiles. Performed iterative calculations specifically on wing and horizontal and vertical tails. Assisted in simulations, Solid Works modeling, and research. Sponsored by the New Nose Company (Glendale, AZ).
- A prototype was able to be completed the following semester by a new team
Spacesuit Air Switching Valve, Fall 2009-Spring 2010
- Design a valve for an air rejuvenation spacesuit system. Tasks included pressure calculations, material selection, and thermal expansion/conduction calculations. Sponsored by Paragon SDC.
- A prototype was built but not to a level ready for testing (limited machining skills and resources)
