Based primarily at QinetiQ, Malvern, UK, in collaboration with the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the University of Bristol, UK.
This project was concerned with the development of mid-infrared lasers using a novel InSb-based material system.

- Setting up of laser characterisation instrumentation.
- Cryostat and connections, temperature controller, spectrometer, motorised two-dimensional scanning stage.
- Matlab – Automation of scientific equipment for measurement and analysis.
- Low temperature characterisation of lasers in the mid-infrared wavelength range.
- Current-voltage and light-current measurements, spectra, far-field beam profile and polarisation measurements.
