PERSONAL STATEMENT

 

I’m a flexible and resourceful satellite systems engineer with over 10 years experiences in all aspects of satellite design and development, from initial design through integration, test and in-orbit operation. I also have a good knowledge of Ground to Space aspects and system design and verification. I have excellent communication and inter-personal skills, self-motivation, and a problem solving based approach to my work.

Having spent my career to date working on international projects, I am accustomed and comfortable working throughout Europe and in a multinational environment.

I’m looking to be challenged both technically and personally and to further my knowledge in a satellite or system environment.

Payload Operations Architect – Galileo

Astrium GmbH, Jan 2007 – present

Operations architect at Galileo Space Segment, responsible for the development and implementation of payload operational concept including platform interfaces and related operations.

  • Book captain for Payload User Manual
  • Development of flight control procedures for payload in MOIS including validation in SCOS based simulation environment
  • Payload IOT responsible including support to development and implementation of IOT procedures, plus on-site (operations centre) support for full IOT campaign
  • Management of interface to payload manufacturer for operations aspects including management and co-ordination of (up to 3) team members work
  • Support to, and participation in, end to end and system verification tests

 

Transfer to satellite AIT in Rome for last months of Galileo project to perform AIT technical management and co-ordination role, including review and approval of satellite system testing. Additionally, support planned for launch campaign in Kourou.

 

Space Segment Interface Engineer – Galileo

Interface engineer responsible for external interface documents governing Galileo mission data uplinks and downlink including system requirement flow down and implementation in on-board mission data dissemination concept

 

  • Definition of satellite and payload level requirements based on flow down of system level requirements, including compliance and verification, in a DOORS environment
  • Development of satellite and payload on-board data dissemination concept to meet requirements of up and downlink
  • Customer interface for all issues related to data dissemination and external interfaces

Payload Systems Engineer – Anik Navigation Payload

Astrium Ltd., 2003 – Jan 2005

Payload System engineer, in part, responsible for design, procurement & start of build of the WAAS navigation payload on the Anik F1R telecommunications satellite.

  • Definition of equipment specifications based on flow down of customer and satellite requirements
  • Payload analyses based on equipment level inputs to ensure compliance to payload requirements
  • Management of the interfaces and flow of communication between the navigation payload and the mechanical, electrical, EMC & design office teams as well as with the spacecraft team in Toulouse; technical management of the interface with the equipment sub-contractors.
  • Navigation systems support to AIT in Portsmouth and Toulouse (Satellite level integration and testing)

 

Payload Systems Engineer – Galileo/GSTB

Astrium Ltd., Nov 2000- 2003

Payload systems engineer in the Galileo and Galileo System Test Bed teams including 6 months secondment to telecoms payload team.

 

PERSONAL ACHIEVEMENTS AND INTERESTS

Keen traveler and adventurer, including recently an expedition to Kilimanjaro, trips to India, China, Syria and Africa. Beginner surfer. 

As a student, a recreational microlight co-pilot.

Enjoy hiking, and occasionally paragliding, in the Alps, and in more relaxed times an avid reader, and music fan.
