Main activities and responsibilities

In the first stage of my job experience in Thales Alenia Space I was involved in the satellite mission analysis in order to verify the mission feasibility. My task was the study of the satellite performances in terms of mass budget, power budget, link budget, BER and also the issuing of documents as proposals, technical descriptions, requirements specifications.

Nowadays I am responsible for RF section in Sentinel-3 Programme and X-Band Antenna in Cosmo Second Generation.

For both positions my task is the overall management of the subsystems: implementation of requirements for the Subcontractors and to chase them for ensuring the requirements implementation, demonstrating to Prime Contractors and Clients (mainly European Space Agency) the correct application and implementation of the requirements and for ensuring their traceability, participation to Progress Meetings and main reviews (BDR, PDR, CDR etc. etc.), checking of the schedule and milestone certifications, management of RFD/RFWs and NCR/NRBs, coordination of the AIT/AIV activities.

Moreover I contribute to some proposals both for new satellite missions (e.g. MeteoSat Third Generation, Aussat, Arkon 2) and for some innovative studies (e.g. Study of Data Downlink Systems for Earth Observation Satellites operating in the 26 GHz Band, Advanced Techniques for High Data Rate Links for Earth Exploration Satellites).

Article presentation in SSW 2008 International Workshop on Small Satellites, New Missions and New Technologies (“A Simulation tool for payload data volume and downlink latency estimation in a LEO Earth Observation satellite”) focused on a simulation tool called DESOS (Data Exchange Simulator in Orbital Scenarios) conceived to carry out the trade-off activity; in particular it verifies the capability to store a maximum number of images per orbit and downlink them within an acceptable timelines avoiding at the same time a “Memory full” status.

Article presentation in 4th ESA International Workshop on Tracking, Telemetry and Command Systems for Space Applications (“High Downlink Data Rate PDHT for Sentinel Programs”) focused on Sentinel program activity in order to study satellite performances in different configurations.
