Senior electronics design engineer

Helped the project team analyze torque output and electrical input requirements of a servo system to be mounted on airplanes, in order to determine design specifications for the motor control card to drive this system

Performed electrical and thermal circuit simulations, negotiated board mechanical outline and matters related to card's digital parts such as the MCU and FPGA, and designed the first such combined motor control card in the department, per specifications and applicable reliability standards, with the following capabilities:

Drive and control 1 brushless and 2 brush DC motors up to 60V/300W each, with the architecture allowing FOC

Control 2 solenoid brakes, and condition feedback signals from 2 encoders and 2 resolvers

Manage various supplementary circuitry such as RS232/RS422 communication, voltage reference generation, internal failure checks, buffering, filtering, etc

Drafted schematics of a 28V/50W heater and fan control card for a UAV mission computer and a 3.3V/1W heater control card for a HUD mini LCD, reviewed schematic and board layout of a high-precision resolver-to-digital conversion card, and supervised 3 junior engineers implementing these designs

Assisted the project team in developing stabilization and tracking algorithms, and in tuning and testing the control loops of a 4-axis gimballed FLIR system mounted on UAVs and helicopters, to be sold to a foreign customer as part of an international project
