Personal profile, Skills and achievements
· In July 2012 I graduated from the University of Kent, Canterbury with a 2:1 MPhys Degree with honours in Physics with Astrophysics.
o During the course of my degree I have acquired a variety of highly beneficial skills including problem solving and team work skills. These were acquired through regular coursework assignments, group lab projects and solo research projects. These included practical experimentation, data gathering, computer based simulation and data analysis.
o Two of the larger projects have been:
§ The investigation of the atomic structure of a glass through the generation and analysis of a computer based model
§ The spectroscopic analysis of real world asteroid observations.
The primary objective of each of these projects was to produce high quality research and gain experience in the presentation of that research to a level suitable for general publication.
o As part of my degree I have had some experience with programming in the form of Matlab and FORTRAN as well as extensive experience with MS office.
· In spring 2012 I was awarded the KSCV Gold award for volunteering with a total of 125 hours logged over the course of a year. This was done through working with two main groups these being.
o The University of Kent fencing club, where I held the voluntary committee position of Armourer.
o The Institute of Physics, where I volunteered to help run the physics in the field campaign at Guilfest 2011 and 2012.
· In 2006 I took part in the young enterprise scheme in which I helped start up and run a small business over a period of roughly 8 months during which time it generated a small profit.
· I would describe myself as a hard working, outgoing, friendly person who can work well as part of a group or on my own. I am an open minded and egger individual who relishes new challenges and strive to contribute to any situation.
