Internship at Thales Alenia Space at the Antenna Department    

I’m involved in the multybody analyses to study the deployment of antennas in their operative environments. These analyses are very useful to validate the mechanical project of the complex antennas structure. I’m focusing with detail, on Hildra and Large Reflector Antenna (LDR) structures, both ESA programs.


January 2010 – July 2012  

Engineer at the Mechanical and Aerospacel Department of the University of Rome “La Sapienza”,  in collaboration with AVIO-Colleferro.

My aim was to study the thermo mechanical behavior of the flexible bearings used in solid boosters, under the operative conditions of pressure in the combustion chamber and of the actuation forces to directing booster thrust. These analyses were made thanks to the commercial fem codes MSC Marc.

At the same time, I realized, at the C.S.V. of Militay Aeroanautics, at the Pratica di Mare ‘De Bernardi’ Airport,the mechanical characterizations tests on the rubber material used in the studied bearing, with the INSTRON machinery (traction, compression and shear tests as ASTM regulations)

November 2009 – July 2010   Stage presso azienda Avio di Colleferro (RM).

Internship at AVIO- Colleferro at the Structure Department    

I was involved in the FEM analyses relative to the mechanical failure inside the propellant of the solid rocket motors of the launchers Vega and Ariane, and at the interface between the external structures and the propellant . Different analyses relative to different loading and position conditions were done. The study was designed to the realization of a scheme of “acceptable” defects (this means that those defects were not dangerous for the life of the launchers) in presence of which, the production can not be interrupted.
