Brimstone Missile Programme, 04/2013 – present
Lead Systems Design Engineer working on the development of a Brimstone Missile variant; integral member of two bid teams leading the systems design activities.
Ø Requirements author for Technical Requirements Specifications and Interface Control Documents.
Ø Systems Design interface to various functions (e.g. aircraft integration and software teams) regarding the design of the product and during bid activities.
Ø Providing systems design estimates for the system and missile level teams for a multi-million pound export bid.
Ø Designing the physical, functional and safety architecture for the potential export system.
AW159 Wildcat Pre-Flight Message Test Facility, 01/2010 – 04/2013
Lead Systems Engineer responsible for delivering a £4+ million test facility for the AW159 Wildcat helicopter's Defensive Aids System Pre-Flight Messages.
Ø Responsible for generating the customer documentation, which was used as the basis of the contract.
Ø Creating all system and sub-system level requirements specifications, which was used as best practice examples by the company and also led to my inclusion in the Requirements Management working group.
Ø Requirements manager for the project, maintaining the requirements database and ensuring full traceability.
Ø Generating and updating additional design documentation, from plans to initial CAD models.
Ø Assumed the Systems Design role for the reviewing of documents generated by other functions.
Ø Key Systems contact with the customer and end user, presenting in design reviews and at meetings.
Ø Supporting the sub-contractor on a weekly basis with technical issues, until delivery of the hardware.
Ø Mentoring and supporting other Systems Engineers, Graduates and Industrial Placement students.
Ø Responsible for the integration of the hardware provided by the sub-contractor, Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) equipment and software developed in-house.
Ø Identifying issues with the equipment, followed by a period of work with the sub-contractor / software team to understand and rectify the faults.
Ø Generating all qualification documentation, including the 68 test, 1000+ page System / Sub-system Test Specification, which was used for commissioning at the customer's site.

AW159 Wildcat Defensive Aids System, 01/2010 - 08/2010
Systems Engineer responsible for qualifying the multi-million pound Defensive Aids System for the AW159 Wildcat helicopter. Also providing support during flight trials of the system.
Ø Generation of the Qualification Test Specification, followed by its use to prove the system design.
Ø Raising of any concessions/non-conformance reports for any failures in collaboration with the Quality function.
Ø Updating compliance documentation to aid the Design Authority for approval of the system.
Ø Support to the Wildcat team during flight trials.
Eurofighter Typhoon Defensive Aids System, 07/2007 - 08/2010
Graduate Systems Engineer working for the Integration & Trials team on the multi-million pound, four nation system. The role entailed testing the production standard sets for delivery to the customer, whilst also qualifying and supporting flight trials of new development standards.
Ø Integrating the complex sub-systems to form the system.
Ø Qualification testing for Electronic Countermeasure techniques with the use of RF measuring equipment.
Ø Generation of Excel macros (VBA language) to analyse raw data from flight trials and in-house testing.
Ø Responsible for testing the production standard equipment, creating the test reports and any non-conformance reports. Working to monthly deadlines for delivery to the customer.
Ø Working with the partner companies from Italy, Spain and Germany to understand and rectify common failures.
Working on the Radar Site Services programme, providing radar systems for National Air Traffic Services (NATS). The job entailed providing and maintaining integrated radar systems throughout the systems life cycle.
Ø Supporting Lead Systems Engineers during the preliminary and critical design stages, for certain radar sites.
Ø Creating and updating design documentation to allow the project to pass through gate reviews.
Ø Reviewing documents and drawings created both in-house and by the civil sub-contractors.
Ø Lead Systems Engineer on a new radar site, working on the initial requirements for the site.
Ø Creating the necessary documentation required to replace antennae at certain sites and co-ordinating with the various sub-contractors required to perform the work.
Ø Analysing recorded data taken from radar sites, in order to improve their performance.
Ø Supporting the Quality function during Factory Acceptance Tests carried out on Radar Interrogators.
Ø Implementing the required solutions for agreed change requests invoked by the customer, for operational sites.
Ø Managing and implementing software upgrades for certain operational sites.
Ø Creating method statements and risk assessments for the implementation of hardware changes at certain sites.
