Research Area

 

The central subject of the research is the study, design, and implementation of smart conformal multi-planar phased array antennas for civil and military applications.

Main tasks:Design of radiating elements, single and multi-beamforming feeding networks, and T/R modules. Implementation of the RF, DC, and control blocks in compact multilayer PCBs. Antenna integration, including control programming and mechanical structure.

Projects

 

An active T/R multi-beam conformal ground station antenna for LEO satellite communications at S band, the GEOdesic Dome Array GEODA-SARAS.

A new 4x3 quasi-orthogonal switching beamformer for triangular arrays of three elements.

An electronic beam steering antenna in L and S bands for the Ministry of Defense of Spain.

A new low-cost phase shifter power splitter/combiner network.

A 4x4 patch array antenna for a ballistic missile early warning research from NTGS.

A T/R active conformal array antenna ground station for LEO satellite communications at L band, the phased array GEODA-GRUA.

Teaching

 

Lecturer in the course of Antenna Design and Measurement Techniques of the Athens Program at UPM during 4 consecutive years (2010-2013).

Lecturer in the course of Antenna Design at UPM in 2011, organized for engineers from the Ministry of Defense of Spain.

Support lecturer in the Radiation and Propagation, Electronic Communication Technology, Antennas, Electromagnetism subjects from the M.Sc. in Telecommunication Engineering at UPM (2012-2013, 60 hours total).
