PROFESSIONAL SKILLS

 

Regional Commodity Manager with experience gained in multi-purpose international environments developed in the field of commercial Procurement. During my professional experience I have been involved in the management and implementation of the global strategy for the acquisition of raw materials and the coordination of purchasing, managing a portfolio of approximately 25M$.

In the past, as a Microwave Design Engineer and Team Leader in the field of technological research and development, I worked on the design and development Microwave circuits for Transceiver for Radio Links and in partiular in the design of MMICs (Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuits) and Microwave Power Devices with technology of semiconductor GaAs (Gallium Arsenide).

Thanks to these experiences I was able to develop my skills in negotiation and supplier management, in team working, in dealing with people of different functions, in complex problem solving, in interpersonal relationships, in work organization, in adaptability, in precision and perseverance to reach the objectives, in analytical thinking and multitasking.

Regional Commodity Manager in Purchasing - Global Product Sourcing               (2012 – 2015)

 

I was responsible for the commercial management for Italy, of the commodities RF&Microwave, Telecom ICs, Frequency Control Product, Timing, Microprocessor and Peripheral Components within the Specific Council on the Global Product Sourcing organization.

I work in an international team serving the divisions of Optics and Wireless Transmission for production sites in Italy and Romania.

My tasks are:

- Management and implementation of the global strategy for the acquisition of raw materials

- Support to purchase, business plans of raw materials, assessment of market trends and prices

- Coordination of purchase with manufacturing, planning and engineering departments to acquire inventory in a cost effective and timely manner

- Development of strategies for negotiation between the company and its suppliers

- Interaction with suppliers to resolve quality problems, issues and shortage in production

- Contribution to identify new components and evaluation of new potential suppliers

- Budget management and monitoring of commodity costs and proposals for cost reduction

 Managed portfolio of approximately 25M$.

               

Advanced Procurement Engineer in Purchasing – Advanced Procurement                   (2008 – 2011)

 

I worked as Advanced Procurement Engineer for the Wireless Transmission and I was also the Local Technical Commodity Expert for Microwave, also playing the role of Commodity Manager for RF & Microwave components. I followed the development of new projects in Italy and France (9600-USY, LSY-9600 and MPT-HL-V2). I was focused on the research, selection and introduction of new devices and suppliers considering both the technical and commercial business strategy following the acquisition components.

 

Team Leader Subcontracting in R&D – Microwave Laboratory                                     (2006 – 2008)

 

I technically managed the development of new modules Transmitters and Receivers for radio apparatus 9600LSY 2GR designed in subcontracting by an outside Manufacturer. In this role I directed all the phases of the project between the Microwave Lab and the Manufacturer, until its implementation in production.

MICRO MODULES & MMIC Design Leader in R&D – Microwave Laboratory        (1996 – 2006)

 

I worked as a Design Team Leader for the groups of Micromodules and MMICs in the Laboratory of Microwave Radio Links Division for R&D. I designed and developed the Transmitter and Receiver modules for large capacity digital radio links in the range 4-18GHz with some experience also in 70-80GHz. I designed MMICs from 4 to 38GHz such as Driver, Mixer, Doubler, Power Amplifier, ​​using International Foundries as TriQuint and UMS. I gained expertise in international contacts with suppliers and foundries, in the definition of technical specifications, in design technology chip&wire, in hybrid design with Alumina, FR4 and Roger substrate and packaged components, in performing complex RF measurements and organizing technical meetings. I was also the internal reference for internships for college students

                                                                                               

Discrete Devices & MMIC Engineer in GaAs Component Division                        (1990 – 1996)

 

In the Gallium Arsenide (GaAs) Centre for microelectronic technology I was a designer of discrete devices and MMICs for microwave radio, working in class 100 and 1000 clear rooms for wafer processing, packaging and testing. I designed Field Effect Transistor (FET-MESFET), Internally Matched Power FETs in C/Ku bands and MMICs.

I gained experiences in:

-          Chip design for small-signal, power operation and high linearity (and thermal design)

-          Mask design for wafer processing

-          Design of structured for Process Control Monitor (PCM) and Test Pattern for RF control

-          DC, Small-Signal and power on wafer RF measurements (with Cascade Microtech and DC probes)

-          Linear and non-linear Library for internal MMIC design

-          Chip&wire and hermetic packaging technology as well hybrid technology

-          Power and Intermodulation RF measurements on wafer and test-jig for packaged components

-          Development of a Load-Pull on wafer RF test bench up to 40GHz

-          Use of electrical and magnetic (2D & 3D) simulators

-          Technology for Ion implantation and MOCVD epitaxy, sub-micron photolithography (Stepper), air bridge, via hole, plated heat sink, plasma dry processing, epoxy and die attach, automated wire bonding and hermetic sealing, on-wafer DC & RF testing, burn-in process, IR thermography    

In particular I designed a MMIC in Ku band (ESPRIT project), discrete chip 4W, Internally Matched FETs in package in C/X band at 4/8/12/30W output power. Collaborated for a 10W power module for ASAR antenna on ENVISAT-1 satellite.

                                                                                                               

Circuit Designer in Radio Link Division – Intermediate Frequency Laboratory                    (1985 – 1989)

 

Designer for analogical circuits at 70 & 140 MHz for High Capacity Radio Links (amplifiers, channel filters, filter equalizer, radio path equalizer).

I designed a 4-tones switch for intermodulation measurements and a hardware semiautomatic simulator for selective fading (flat & notch fading)

I studied, simulated and developed a new combination technology at I.F. (Minimum BER combiner) for Selective Fading Counter measurements in Space Diversity configuration for Radio Link, this work has been covered by an International Patent.

 

 

       Institute of Plasma Physics of EURATOM-ENEA-CNR Milano (Italy)           (1984 – 1985)

               

Research Assistant

 

I continued the study of the dissertation on the propagation of electromagnetic waves at the electron cyclotron frequency for additional heating in a Tokamak, the toroidal drive for nuclear fusion.

 

SOFTWARE KNOWLEDGE

 

Knowledge of the main office automation tools and use of PC and Work Station.

Use of SAP for contract prices insertion and RapidResponse for Supply Chain.

Skill in use of internal software and database tools for technical and commercial management.

Experienced in use of electrical simulators HP-EEsof Serie IV, HP-MDS and AWR-Microwave Office.

Knowledge of all the instruments in use in an RF laboratory (Analyzers Vector and Scalar, Frequency and Power Sweeper, Noise meter, power meter, Oscilloscope, Power Supplies, Spectrum Analyzers, climate chambers, TWT and amplifiers, solid state JIG filter, Tuner , etc)
Knowledge of instrumentation in use in a semiconductor LAB in particular for DC and RF measurements on wafers.

 

EDUCATION

 

Bachelor's degree in Physics at the State University of Milan (Italy), full marks with honours – 1984.

Thesis title: "Electromagnetic wave propagation in a Tokamak at the electron cyclotron frequency out of the W.K.B. scheme", Institute of Plasma Physics of Milan (IT).
