Relevant Experience

Jun - Jul 2015
Development of a Vehicle Simulator (Open-source project)
Development of a real-time vehicle simulator in C by using the pthread library. This application is able to capture and act on input events. The simulated vehicle is assumed to have an automatic transmission, and a simplified Transmission Control Unit (TCU) has also been implemented.

Oct 2014-Feb 2015
Graduate Research Intern at Robotics Lab “E. Piaggio”, Pisa
In this reasearch project a specific group of Variable Stiffness Actuators, called qbmoves, has been developed in a C++ plugin in Gazebo/ROS. This simulator also includes implementation of the two servo-motors that are embedded in each qbmove.

Jul - Oct 2014
iNEMO project
Attitude estimation of a low-cost Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) provided by STMicroelectronics, called iNEMO. The developed MatLab software program is able to estimate the roll, pitch and yaw angles by receiving data from sensors via serial communication.
In particular, the Madgwick filter has been used and its results compared to the ones obtained with a simpler attitude estimation algorithm, provided by ST.

Jun - Jul 2013
Development of an HIL boiler control
Development of a Hardware In the Loop (HIL) simulator to control a boiler, whose dynamics has been implemented in a Simulink scheme. An Arduino UNO microcontroller has been chosen in order to stabilize the system by using the BLT method.

Jul - Oct 2012
Bachelor’s Thesis
Development of an HIL simulator for an autopilot, which is a 32-bit microcontroller called ICARO II. The implemented application used to simulate the real system (quadcopter) has been written in C++ and embedded in a C function in Simulink. CAN bus has been used for communication.
