Summary

Returning to higher education has expanded my knowledge across multiple disciplines but my focus has remained on electronics and electrical systems. I am a motivated, self-driven individual with a comprehensive understanding of the space environment, digital and analogue circuit design, embedded systems, RF propagation, software development and customer service. I am a leader by nature but also a team player as my previous projects showed that I work well with colleagues and senior managers. I am currently looking for an exciting space industry position in avionics or systems engineering.

 

Professional Highlights

Designed, produced and implemented the avionics for team PIOneERS which launched on the ESA backed sub-orbital rocket REXUS 24 in March 2018

Designed, manufactured and demonstrated an electromagnetic docking system implemented on the ‘Autonomous Assembly of a Reconfigurable Space Telescope' (AAReST) satellite due for launch in 2019

Developed a highly effective smartphone application for an insurance firm giving customers the ability to report incidents efficiently whilst still on-scene

Planned, deployed and operated a semi-autonomous satellite ground-station on a Cape Verdean island which yielded UHF ionospheric scintillation statistics and is still in use for other novel space related projects

Characterisation of the wideband UHF ionospheric RF channel

Satellite communications have become an integral and invaluable part of modern society. With limited bandwidth available in the electromagnetic spectrum, it is imperative that we use what is available to its maximum utility

As part of the Space Environment and Radio Engineering (SERENE) group, experimental techniques were implemented to evaluate the time-varying nature of ionospheric disturbances

Required skills span across physics, computing and engineering to model, measure and predict for digital modems of the future

Bespoke software modelling and analysis techniques were used to quantify and predict the occurrence of such scintillation

M.Sc. : Space Engineering - Merit, 2015

University of Surrey - U.K.

The Surrey Space Centre (SSC) has been manufacturing satellites for over 30 years. Therefore, this MSc took full advantage of the excellent opportunities involving real satellite missions 

A highly technical multi-disciplinary engineering degree incorporating all aspects of space missions from initial concept to hardware design, avionics, launch, propulsion, manufacturing and testing, to in orbit operations and communications

Final project: design and fabrication of an innovative electromagnetic docking system. This included the control PCB and associated electronics for wireless operation before validating its functionality on a purpose built air-bearing testbed. Awarded a distinction for the project. The spacecraft is anticipated to be launched into low earth orbit in 2019
