Personal Profile
I started on a path to change my career in 2011 and discovered a passion for Geoscience and Earth Observation. It is my dream to work within the space industry, particularly in a Remote Sensing role, and I am willing to start from the bottom and work my way up. I have years of experience working under pressure, often balancing a full time job and study, and actually enjoy the pressure and challenges of such situations.  Importantly, I am diligent, accurate, hard-working and always happy to learn new things.

Whilst undertaking my postgraduate degree in Remote Sensing, I am working part time on a company-wide project to implement new Data Protection Regulations in line with EU law.

In 2010 I was promoted to ‘Controls Team Co-ordinator’. My role included managing the team when my manager was absent, dealing with team absences, carrying out disciplinary action and managing team members dealing with non-work related stress. I was solely responsible for prioritising not only my own workload but that of the team as a whole and was the first point of call for any queries from team members. I regularly had to use analytical and problem solving skills in order to make judgement calls on cases, and demonstrated leadership, communication and time management skills to conduct training sessions for existing employees and when training any temporary staff within the team. I also was solely responsible for reviewing cases for possible legal action against the lender, discussing options with clients and liaising with solicitors.

I was initially employed as a ‘Complaints Handler’ working closely with clients, the FSCS, Deloitte, the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS), and many banks. I monitored the progression of a complaint from registration to resolution and ensured deadlines were met by both Renaissance and the lender so that FCA rulings were not breached at any point. Other duties included working alongside other teams, completing reports to ensure all complaints were being handled in the correct manner, monitoring task lists to manage backlogs, answering queries and difficult complaints from clients, lenders, and the FOS, and responding to both lender and FOS rejections. I also worked within the ‘Wins’ team checking offers of compensation, raising invoices and chasing payment of outstanding invoices.

Reason for leaving: Could only offer part time hours
My responsibilities included helping children improve their Maths & English skills whilst working closely with the national curriculum. I worked with children with a variety of capabilities from gifted to underachievers; I also tutored children with learning difficulties and disabilities such as Aspergers, Dyslexia, mild Autism and ADHD.

Computer Skills:               I am IT literate and experienced in using MS Office packages, Photoshop, Premier Pro, Lightroom, Outlook, MS Dynamics, Salesforce and Sage (ACT!) I have completed intermediate Excel training, management training and have basic Microsoft SQL knowledge.

Driving Licence:                 Full, clean UK driving licence.

Interests and Achievements

I enjoy reading, photography and foreign travel, having visited 47 countries. The experiences taught me how to use my initiative, be self-sufficient, have excellent organisational & logistical skills, keep to a budget and cope with unexpected situations. I love photography and hope to combine my passion for imagery with an aptitude for the academic and desire to work within the Earth Observation sector. I also enjoy swimming and have competed at national level.
