Activity    Provision of S/W Engineering support to the LEO and GEO Eumetsat programmes: EPS, Sentinel 3 and Meteosat Second Generation Mission Planning Facilities.
This including follow-up and investigation of anomalies; formal problem reporting; maintenance of test/verification procedures and frameworks; deployment and formal testing/acceptance of new releases.
Interface to International Community for Inter-Organisational MPF-related operations.
Responsibilities    Mission Planification and scheduling of all the commands, for both the space and ground segments, within all the Eumetsat operational missions:
Eumetsat Polar System, Sentinel 3 (A and B) and Meteosat second generation.

November 2016 - Present    Flight Dynamics engineer at EUMETSAT, volunteer researcher.

Activity    Research about optimal Metop A End of Life deorbiting strategies in order to minimize the risk of debris generation oriented to change the European policies of satellite reentry.
Research developed together with the Head of Eumetsat Flight Dynamics (Leader of the research).
Software developed in Matlab and Excel. 
Orbit propagation performed with the CNES tool “STELA”.
Responsibilities    Develop the codes and the tools in order to perform the risk analysis and calculation.
In charge of writing the scientific article related to the research.
Knowledge Acquired    Debris Risk calculation and extensive automation of complex calculation in order to obtain concrete results.
June 2016 - 
April 2018    Space and Ground Segment Controller at EUMETSAT, Telespazio Vega Deutschland consultant
Location    EUMETSAT, Flight Operations Division of the EUMETSAT Polar System Program;
Eumetsat Allee 1, Darmstadt, Germany.
Activity    He deals with daily commanding of the two satellites of the constellation (Metop A and B). In particular he executes routine and special commanding activities like orbital maneuvers and satellite failures recovery.
He also executes the operational activities regarding the all ground segment running the mission. In particular he commands and controls the North pole antennas, the mission control system and all the product processing and distributing facilities.
He prepares the database documentation, analysis of subsystems, applies the contingency/emergency procedures.
He performs data monitoring, health check of the equipment, preparation and performance of operations following established procedure and verification of results;
Troubleshooting and preparation of reports.
Responsibilities    Responsible of controlling and commanding the status, actions and maneuvers performed by the Spacecraft. He is also involved in Data product generation, commanding and control of the Ground Segment of the all Eumetsat Polar System Mission.
Knowledge Acquired    Ability to work in mission critical environment under high time pressure and stress conditions.
A strong technical oriented and proficiency in complex computer systems concepts and usage;
Ability to work autonomously according to high level guidelines.

September 2015 - May 2016    Internship as Software Engineer
Location    Telespazio S.p.a.(Head Quarter), Business Unit: Satellite Systems & Applications, Space Mission Planning Division. Via Tiburtina, 965 00156 Roma. 
Activity    Test and validation of the Mission Planning software for the Italian satellite constellation COSMO-SkyMed (2° Generation).
Identification of the suite of test tools and test data required to support V&V activities, and definition of development / procurement approach and associated planning.
Preparation of User Requirement Documents (URDs), Statements of Work (SoWs), etc., as needed as input for development and/or procurement activities.
Contribution to the in-house development and validation of test tools and their maintenance.
Support for procurements of test tools / test data.
Responsibilities    Development of the tools for the test and validation of the image acquisition  Mission Planning software of the COSMO-SkyMed (2° Generation) mission under the W.P. Manager.

March 2015    Internship as Flight Dynamics Engineer
Location    European Launch Vehicle (E.L.V. S.p.a.) Department of Flight Mechanics
Corso Garibaldi, 22 00034 Colleferro (Roma), 
Activity    Development of a guidance algorithm, considering the earth oblateness perturbation (J2 effect). This algorithm has been developed for the last stage of the Vega Launcher and is oriented to perform Rendez-Vous maneuvers. 
A solution method for the Lambert J2 perturbed problem has been developed and extended to the finite burn case.
The sw takes into account the technical requirements of the Vega Launcher and has been developed in Fortran. The results have been represented using Matlab. 
The real Vega mission’s data have been used to validate the sw results that reflect those produced by the official E.L.V. sw Trajectory Simulator (TRASIM).
Software testing and validation activity has been performed to ensure the satisfaction of the requirements imposed by E.L.V..
Responsibilities    Autonomously managed the development of the software and the associated timeline.
Results were discussed with University of Rome Department of Astronautic, Electric and Energetic Engineering and with E.L.V. tutors.
Knowledge Acquired    Capability to study independently complex and novel topics and to rapidly prototype s/w for study purposes and taking into account the imposed technical requirements. 
Devising and realising mathematical algorithms to satisfy applications using Fortran and Matlab.
Achieved proficient level of programming using Fortran and Matlab. 
Acquired competence in software testing and validation.  
Successfully managed the project timelines, completing development by the aimed deadline.
