TITLE: "Thermal simulation on a space structure with high stability for optical applications";

The goal of my thesis was to perform a thermal analysis of a complex structure; the study is aimed to obtain a thermal map of the whole structure, with particular focus on interface parts using the FINITE ELEMENT METHOD. Test results have been compared to ESATAN model results in order to optimise the previous model performed.

Also I got knowledge about the thermal control system design.

In order to elaborate and complete my thesis, I initially did an apprenticeship in the Engineering of materials and production Department, at the University of Naples Federico II, where I acquired production techniques skills and learned how to create metal foam samples.  During the final part of the apprenticeship, I did a training  in CIRA (Italian Center in Aerospace Research), where I focused on experimental tests on metallic foam samples, utilizing Thermography IR as a non-destructive control technique to define the foaming material properties.
