WORK EXPERIENCE

 

Space System Engineer at SITAEL, Mola di Bari – February 2017 - ongoing

Working on the design of small satellites. Main responsibilities:

Requirements management (DOORS)

Development of system engineering model (Capella)

Development of design optimization tools (MATLAB)

Technical proposal writing

 

SEEDS Internship – March to September 2016

Internship divided in 3 phases, realized with the collaboration of Thales Alenia Space (Torino), ISAE-SUPAERO and the University of Leicester.

First phase – Torino:

Design of ECLSS and TCS of a manned spacecraft for Martian missions. Project Manager of the whole international team; use of MS Project.

Second phase - Toulouse:

Design of structure and mechanisms of a heavy-duty Martian rover; use of MSC Nastran/Patran.

Third phase - Leicester:

Design of structure and mechanisms of an Earth-Mars spacecraft. Coordinated the design team as Lead System Engineer through the phase A study.

 

CubeSat Team collaboration, Politecnico di Torino – 2013 to 2015

Student nanosatellite design team, as part of ESA’s Fly Your Satellite! program. Worked on two different CubeSat projects: ground control station coding for e-st@r-II (MATLAB and Python) and system engineering for 3-STAR.

 

EDUCATION

 

2015-2016:    International II level Specializing Master SEEDS, Politecnico di Torino

                        Achieved: October 2016            

Courses focused on space system engineering and mission analysis disciplines, followed by a 6-months Project Work performed by an international team. The topic was a phase A study of a human mission to Mars that exploits in-situ resources.

 

2012-2015:    Master’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Politecnico di Torino

                        Achieved: October 2015 Grade: 98/110

Specialization in space engineering. Final thesis on Model Based System Engineering applied to a CubeSat mission. Use of SysML for system modeling.

 

2009-2012:    Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Politecnico di Torino

                       Achieved: December 2012

Courses provided solid foundation in mathematics, physics and aeronautical engineering. Final thesis on optimization of spacecraft trajectories with the use of evolutionary algorithms.
