I am a 27 years old Space Engineer dedicated to rocket propulsion. I graduated at “La Sapienza” in Rome in 2017, where I acquired

deep insight in all aspects of launch systems design. I developed numerous skills in many engineering disciplines and tools. I ex-

tended my knowledge on space propulsion to electric propulsion working on plasma thruster tecnology. At present day, I am at-

tending the 2nd level Master in Space Transportation Systems at “La Sapienza”.










Solid rocket motors design

The main activity was the definition of a preliminary design of a multi-stage solid rock-et launcher in terms of thrust curves, characterization of the propellant mass and opti-mization of inert masses.

The definition of a suitable profile of thrust curve, coherent with the system requirements was conducted through a mult-disciplinary optimization.

An evolutionistic algorithm was developed, in a MATLAB environment, to in- terface the preliminary design with the advanced design tool available in Avio. The main goal was to reduce the many iteration in the design process of a new solid rocket launcher.

I was able to increase my knowledge on many design methodologies and on the indus- trial process of SRM production.





Plasma thrusters modelling

My activities were focused on numerical simulation of plasma thrusters.

I developed an efficient computational code to run numerical simulations of

the plasma behaviour, in order to evaluate the thruster performance. The

code was written in MATLAB, and interfaced with the magnetic simulations

performed with FEMM 4.2;

I worked synergically with the high-power team on the preliminary design of

an improved prototype of Hall thruster;

I acquired deep insight in the optimization of the thruster performances, resolution of technological issues, modelling, design and manufacturing.

I am attending since december 2017 this 2nd level Master Course, which is focused on:

Liquid and solid prulsion systems and combustion modelling;

Launch vehicle design and architecture optimization;

Experimental fluid dynamics, on which I attended a brief training at the Von Karman Institute on visualization techniques of supersonic flows;

I also attended a week of technical seminars on GNC systems at CNES in Paris.

I attended the "launchers" academic program. The course was focused on:

Chemical and electric propulsion;

Orbital and sub-orbital mechanics;

Launch trajectroy optimization and attitude control;

I obtained a mark of 105/110 presenting the thesis “Analysis and modelling of Hall thrusters and application in interplanetary transfers”.










I used this tool over all the Bachelor and Master courses in many applications, such as plasma dyamics modelling, multi-disciplinary optimization, control systems and dyna- mical simulations. I acquired expertise in GNU-Octave tool as an alternative to MATLAB for many other application, mainly for its immediate LINUX interface.





I used this MATLAB tool to run dynamical simulations on satellite attitude control du- ring the MSc course.





I used this design tool during the Master in Space Transportation Systems for the preli- minary design of liquid rocket engines, both for steady and transient simulations.





I used Microsoft Office tools for many years, since the high-school. I extensively used Word and PowerPoint on many applications. I have a basic expertise on Excel, that I used for simple computations during the Master courses.



FEMM 4.2


I first used this magnetic simulation software in Sitael in 2016 to run many FEM mag- netic simulations on Hall thrusters.





I used Windows OS as primary OS for decades, for personal and academic purpose.





I started to use Ubuntu distribution for Linux at the beginning of 2017, and I adopted it as my primary OS since then.
