PLATINO is a Mini-Sat with a platform entirely produced by a 3D printing.

“Galileo” is a global navigation satellite constellation.

COSMO-SkyMed is a satellite radar constellation for the Earth observation.

Role description: I was in charge of  the Mechanical analyses at S/C System level, for piping and  PDHT wave guides. I was also in charge to design LVA, brackets and PDHT/TT&C bread boards for Additive Manufacturing (mechanical/optimization analysis, analysis report, etc.).

Proposal: PACE project

Project description: PACE (NASA proposal) is a satellite which provide systematic observations about ocean colour , aerosol and clouds.

Role description: For TAS-I Rome site I’ve been the team leader both for the foundation of a new Concurrent Design Facility, which is created in order to reduce the work time up to 60% in phase A,  and for the subsystems analysis (system engineering).

The workflow consisted in:

Selection and implementation of sizing rules for every satellite subsystem (collaboration with subsystem chiefs).  Realization of a new CDF platform using Matlab, XML language, javascript functions and  IDM view (a CNES 3D visualization tool). Composition of a Nastran data sheet from XML file, using Matlab and java commands.

S.R.S. Engineering Design s.r.l. – Centro Direzionale F12, Naples (Italy), collaboration with ESA (European Space Agency).

Program: Project IRENE (Italian Re-Entry NacellE), [www.projectirene.com]

Project description: IRENE is a nacelle (umbrella like) which will provide systematic connections between Earth and ISS with an autonomous re-entry phase.

Role description: I was in charge of both the CAD design (nacelle and Launcher I/F) and the Mechanical analysis.

The workflow consisted in:

Conceptualization and design with CAD (Catia) ; sizing of parts and structural components of complex assemblies; FEM analysis (HyperMesh, HyperView, Abaqus CAE and  Abaqus) of structural components.
