Sr. Systems Engineer                     Sept. 07 – Present

 

SAIC – Scientific Applications International Corp

  • As part of the Mobile Launcher Element Team, monitoreddaily construction of the 345 foot tall Mobile Launcher Tower and all the associated subsystems within the MLT.
  • Responsible for reviewing each design package for the Mobile Launcher (ML) and associated subsystems (structural/mechanical, GSE, fluids, electrical, specifications/standards).
  • Design review analysis (form/fit/function) of engineering drawings.
  • Trade studies conducted to optimize design of Ares/Orion/Ground Systems, maximize safety and mission assurance, and minimize life cycle cost.
  • Daily schedule and budget analysis to ensure safety and quality processing/operations at the Mobile Launcher construction site.
  • Active board member on NASA’s Ground and Flight Risk Review Panel responsible for identifying, assessing, and prioritizing program risks.
  • Developed the Lessons Learned process, database and review cycle at the completion of the first phase of the ML structural and facility construction contract.
  • Integrated Process Team member on NASA’s Verification and Validation and Operations and Maintenance technical teams.

 

Umbilical/Mechanical Engineer IV                         Oct 02 – Sept 07

 

The Boeing Company – Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Fl.

  • Prime Propulsion engineer for the Swing Arm mates, de-mates, operations and refurbishment of Delta IV rockets on CCAFS and VAFB.
  • Test Conductor and Task Leader for Flight, GSE and facility maintenance of the mechanical, hydraulic, propellant and electrical systems.
  • Generated the “Post Task” review process to improve system efficiency and reliability. Ensures application of best practices such as Lean Manufacturing and Employee Involvement through team participation with AIW and 5S activities.
  • Analyzed known and projected resource requirements to ensure all tasks can be completed prior to launch.
  • Scheduled design changes for Ground support equipment keeping within Departmental budget requirements.
  • Analyzed and established the feasibility of launch readiness against budgetary and execution milestones for projected resource requirements.   Daily duties required me to perform workforce and budget analysis to ensure that pre-launch tasks can be completed on schedule and within budget.  Analyze contractor schedules to ensure that all critical milestones would be met.  
  • Managed spare parts inventory and budget to ensure year-end min/max inventory requirements were achieved.

Mechanical Engineer III - Launch Site Support Engineer                   July 99 – Oct 02

 

The Boeing Company – Space Station Processing Facility, Fl.

  • Space Shuttle Cargo Integration including the resolution of all MPLM Cargo Integration and processing issues.
  • Direct operations involving the generation of test data and the technical documentation to ensure flight hardware readiness.
  • International Space Station Task Leader interfacing with USA, NASA, JSC and payload customers as well as Design counterparts to assure appropriate problem resolution.
  • Worked closely with the MSFC /JSC Design Centers to safely resolve off-nominal conditions, propose and develop hardware modifications to improve safety and durability, and propose/implement process enhancements.
  • Hardware closeout engineering to verify flight configuration, writing PR’s and DR’s, and disposition work steps to task completion.
