Public Affairs Officer                                                                     

Public Affairs Officer for Naval Surface Force, Atlantic, responsible for strategic communication, media, events and community relations for 110 ships and 43 shore facilities in the Atlantic Fleet.  

Director of Plans and Policy for the Chief of Information, developed strategic communication plans for Navy-wide use and reviewed the proposed testimony of senior Navy leadership before they testified before congress to ensure their testimony was consistent with current policy.  

Public Affairs Officer for the USS NIMITZ (CVN68), responsible for issues dealing with the operational status of the ship, assigned air squadron and the embarked Flag Officer and his staff.  Conceptualized and implemented the integrated media department. 

Director, Media and Community Relations, Allied Command Atlantic, responsible for media and community relations for NATO’s 50th anniversary, operations in Bosnia and NATO naval exercises in the Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean Sea. 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Strategic:Led the strategic efforts for commissioning communications of the USS San Antonio (LPD-17); the roll out and implementation of the Surface Warfare Enterprise business model; Navy Destroyer Crew Swap program; Sea Enterprise; Joint Strike Fighter Program, and the Littoral Combat Ship. 

Media Operations:International media spokesman for Operation Iraqi Freedom, in Doha, Qatar: Directly addressed an international audience on all matters related to the initial military build up and subsequent war in Iraq;  managed the NBC, BBC, German TV – ZDF and ARD, French newspapers, Newsweek, Chinese and Lebanese television and radio accounts.  Developed and fed information to the CNN, MSNBC, ABC and BBC news tickers.  NATO media spokesman for Stabilization Force (SFOR) operations in Bosnia:  Based in Banja Luka, sole American media liaison to Muslim, Croatian and Serbian news outlets. 

Community Relations: Established the first East Coast Leaders to Sea program aimed at allowing community leaders to view actual at-sea navy operations.  Military representative for the City of Norfolk (VA) Annual Azalea Festival: Planned city-wide events such as the Military Tattoo, parade, NATO-fest and the Azalea Queen’s Ball. 

Admissions Officer, US Naval Academy, responsible for the admission and congressional issues for all minority candidates from the Midwestern United States.
