Vitrociset - Darmstadt (Germany)

Project Manager, Software Development (Apr. 1993 → Aug. 2000)


-    Site manager at the European Space Operation Centre (ESOC) of the European Space Agency in charge of Vitrociset’s resource management and recruitment;

-    Project Manager of the EGNOS-EM project for ENAV (Italian Institute for Flight Control) for the development of an air-traffic control simulator. Project used a geo-referenced graphical representation of the European and the Mediterranean area and aimed to track airways and assist the air traffic control using the data from the EGNOS and GPS satellites;

-    Project Manager for the development using C++, for ESA and NASA, of the communications’ gateway between the NASA’s Deep Space Network and the ESA’s network to convert the NASA telemetry packets to the ESA’s PUS format used by the SOHO satellite, and vice versa;

-    Project Manager for the Automatic Schedules Execution (ASE) project for automatic satellite control, analysing the telemetry and sending the proper telecommands to the satellite. Object-oriented analysis and design using Java;

-    Project Manager for the On-Board Software Maintenance (OBSM) of the satellite Envisat (FOCC Envisat OBSM). Object-oriented analysis and design using C++;

-    Development of subsystems using C++ for the Spacecraft Control and Operations System (SCOS-II and then SCOS-2000) in the Flight Control Systems Department.
