ENGINEERING PROJECTS
Nano-Satellite for Detail Design Fall 2010
Served as project manager for an 11-member team, designed, built, integrated a Nano-satellite main structure, and deployment mechanism capable of launching up to four cube satellites; tested vibrationally for the natural frequency in the transverse and axial directions to compare with the ANSYS model; tested via static loading in the transverse and axial directions to confirm ANSYS and theoretical calculations generated from the CATIA and ANSYS model. As the project manager my duties included direct control over testing procedures and methodology. I also ensured that each subsystem developed would integrate with the structure. I also had to ensure that future subsystems would be able to be integrated into the nano-satellite main structure.
Nano-Satellite for Preliminary Design Spring 2010
Served as project manager of an 11-member team in addition to designing the C&DH; designed a Nano-satellite capable of launching four objects used for calibration of radars in the space surveillance network and a high area to mass ratio balloon used to study orbital decay. Models for the Nano-satellite were completed in CATIA and subsystems were modeled in MATLAB.

Tasked with conceptualizing and building a structure in order to house the current lunar rover. The housing must meet specifications set forth by the Marshall Space Flight Center. The structure will be able to withstand lunar conditions and be modifiable to withstand Mars’ environment. The structure will also house the equipment necessary for repairs and be able to generate power from solar energy.

Pong Satellite 01/2006 - 06/2008
Helped design a series of pong satellites to measure voltage, temperature, and photovoltaic energy in a high altitude balloon. Pong Satellites were designed to gather data in 30 second intervals. Led in the gathering and interpretation of pong satellite data, satellite data was then overlaid with GPS data and made into a real time movie using Google maps.

Sumo Robot 01/2006 - 06/2008
As part of a 2-person team designed and helped program an autonomous sumo robot. Sumo robots battled other sumo robots in a circular ring with the outer edge of the ring being white. The sumo robot had to be able to sense the white line so that it did not push itself out and needed to be able sense and push the other robot out of the ring when within proximity. In order to sense the outside white ring, a set of IR sensors was used.
