PROJECTS

Project #1 –Nano-satellite for Low Earth Orbit. (Duration: Since October 2010)

 

          This project is about developing a nano-satellite for low earth orbit for ISIS. The purpose of this project is to implement an AIS receiver for tracking ships on the sea from space. The scope of this work involves developing and optimizing an AIS Receiver algorithms on TI 674x DSP platform.  Skills obtained: DSP Optimization, Space/Satellite concepts.

 

 

Project #2 - Software DVD on TI’s 64xplus Platform. (Duration: 12 Months)

 

          This project is about developing a software DVD/SVCD player for Texas Instruments, India, for car entertainment purpose. The scope of the work involves development and optimization of various Video post processing algorithms on TI’s 64xplus DSP platform. All the algorithms were implemented in C, and ported and optimized for TI’s 64x+ VLIW platform compliant to MISRA quality norms The developed algorithms were DVD sub-picture decoder, SVCD Overlay Graphics and Text Decoder, Anti-flicker filter, 3-2 pull down, de-interlacing, scaling algorithms, format conversions such as NTSC to PAL, Aspect ratio conversions.. Skills obtained: DSP Optimization,  Set-Top-Box / MPEG concepts.

 

 

 

Project#3 – Porting of Streaming Media Player (Duration: 8 Months)

 

          This project is about porting and enhancing the features of a Streaming (network) Media Player (SMP) on Analog Devices DSP (Blackfin) platform. We have used RTP/RTSP protocol for streaming audio streams such as MP3 and AAC. The other components on the systems were MP3/AAC decoders and Audio driver (AD1886 and Ad1985). The scope of the work involved integrating different components on a Real Time Operating Systems and adding new features like GUI. The system was tested for real time performance. Skills obtained: Real Time multi-thread programming, System Integration, System Testing.

 

Project #4  - Multimedia Control Bridge (Duration: 4 Months)

      This project was about developing a communication bridge for a Host-Client environment. The Host can be an ARM processor or a Windows PC. The client is TI’s fixed point DSP processor. The communication protocol shall be portable, enhance able and suitable for multimedia applications.

 

The physical communication between the Host and Client is established using I2C. The scope of the work involved in designing and implementing a layered communication protocol. The scope also involved developing an I2C driver with Extended DMA controller support for DSP Processor. Skills obtained: Driver development, Software structure for portability.

 

Project#5  - Media Player for Car Entertainment Systems (Duration: 10 Months)

 

          This project involved in development / integration of a high-end audio player for Car Entertainment Domain, based on NXP proprietary processors and tool chain. Work involved MISRA compliance and Testing of codecs. Another task was to port OpenGL-ES stack (Vincent 3D rendering library) on to NXP Trimedia processor.

Skills obtained: OpenGL-ES, MISRA compliance skills.

 

Project#6 -  Set-Top-Box (DVB-T) Project(Duration: 5 Months)

 

           The scope of this project is to develop a Digital TV solution based on the Philip’s PNX1500 DVB-T platform. Scope work involved in system / integration testing of various modules such as Onscreen Display, Teletext, Board Control Package etc.

Skills Obtained: System/Integration Testing.

 

Project #7 – Fractional Order Digital FIR Filter Design (Duration: 6 Months)

           

       This project deals with developing algorithms for Fractional Order (Fractional Delay) FIR filters and there by designing Fractional Order Differentiators. These algorithms were simulated in Matlab. We also simulated an application package for fractional order differentiators, beam steering of horn antenna arrays. This work was done as a part of my bachelor thesis. Skills obtained: Matlbab, DSP.
