2015 - Rocket Lab USA

Test/research engineer on the Electron Launcher program. 3 months project in expatriation.
The American company RocketLab USA has the objective of opening access to space: it develops an innovative concept of space launcher, Electron.
It allows to launch satellites for very competitive cost.  Electron allows to respect commitments of cost and launch frequency. The flight of the prototype of Electron is scheduled for 2016. Electron is the first prived launcher to go on the moon, under contract with the american company Moon Express
and NASA.
Objectives: Experimental Research Flight. Study scientifically the behavior of the launcher during its flight. Includes cryogenic topics. This work consists in defining all the measurements to be done during the flight and develop the sensing system to do it.
Method: Work in the vehicle team composed of 15 people, mainly anglophone.

2014 - von Karman Institute Project

Partnership  with Hydra-Fab and the NATO in the context of a Diploma Course  project. 11 months project.
Objectives: development of a method to optimize performances & reliability of control algorithms for extremely nonlinear systems. Application case: hydraulic tilting  unit of Bombardier & Virgin high speed trains.
Method: experimental characterization  of the tilting system. Research of an innovative solution applicable in an industrial context.
Results: development and validation of the prototype of an algorithm to control the hydraulic tilting system.

2012 - von karman institute project for the European Space Agency (ESA)
Cassini-Huygens is a spatial spacecraft jointly realized by the NASA, ESA and ASI. In june 2012, the ESA has delivered a contract named ‘‘Huygens Performance Validation and Lessons learnt’’. The spin direction of the Huygens probe during the subsonic phase of the entrance in the Titan atmosphere was not the one expected. One task of the ESA contract aims to understand this problem. 5 months project.
Objectives: clearly identify the reasons of the unexpected probe spin rotation. It will give a feedback for the future spatial exploration missions. Project in collaboration with one engineer and one doctor of the aerospace department of the von Karman Institute.
Method: problem analysis with a rational approach (by the equations). Formulation of plausible assumptions. Validation by tests in the wind tunnel of the von Karman Institute. These tests are made on the scale 1 prototype of the Huygens planetary probe.
Results: my work in this project has been advanced to the problem analysis with the equations. The results of this work will be used by one engineer of the von Karman Institute to continue the project.  This project was  extremely fascinating.

2012 - Engineer studies final  project           
 « Office National d’Études et de Recherches Aérospatiales», ONERA Lille center

Feasibility of a lift measurement on a nano drone artificial wing inspired by insects : ONERA Remanta project. 5 months project made in the military-measurement-hydrodynamics-diversification unit.
Objectives: to characterize the aerodynamic performances of a latest generation of a biomimetic wing, particularly the lift and drag forces (order of magnitude: micro-Newton). Project in collaboration with a doctor in mathematics, mechanical engineer, researcher at ONERA.

Method: test bench development and optimization  for the wings characterization. The test bench is financed by the EADS foundation. Measurement technology calibration. Processing algorithms development and validation. Problematics analysis.  Interpretation of results..

Results: carrying out of the test on the prototype to evaluate its aerodynamics. Result curves generation. Project overview to organize a  test programme on a variety of prototypes.

2008 - Higher Technician in Mechanical Engineering. Canada Quebec - hydrep.inc

Training course in a 50 people industrial company specialized in fluid mechanics (hydraulics). 10 weeks project.

Objectives: design and manufacture part of the piloting system of a milling unit fabricating turboreactor rotor blades

Method: to study the concept design method in the project’s fluid and solid mechanics problems.  

Resultsparticipation to the implantation of the system at Pratt & Whitney’s Montreal.

 

2007- Higher Technician in Mechanical Engineering. France - LH Aviation

Catia V5 modeling of the LH-10 Ellipse, innovative plane prototype. 6 months project. 20 people.

Objectives: to create a 3D plane model, with the Catia software. To generate the production drawing and to get a numerical model. It offers a possibility of simulating of the aircraft system. Studied in collaboration with the chief engineer. 

Method: work implemented in the studies and methods team. Assessed overall problem, suggested numerical model.

Results: first drawing sets contracted. Dynamic study, with the model, of the aerodynamic compensator implanted in the horizontal plane.

2007- Technology university degree studies Final  project - Canada Quebec- Hydrep.inc

Study of a mechanical power transmission implanted in the hydraulic tilting system of  Hydrep.inc. 10 weeks project.

Objectives: to redesign a mechanical power transmission device subjected to severe cyclic loads where dynamic of collision intervenes.

Method: to study cyclic mechanisms which lead to the device destruction. To take into account those criteria in the design.

Resultsnew device defined. Proposition of a test bench procedure which permits the lifetime validation.
