Postdoc at University of Bremen

 

  • Projects:
  • SCIAMACHY Operations Support Team (SOST), testing and optimization of the radiometric calibration, in particular the polarization correction, of SCIAMACHY (on ENVISAT) data. Inflight recalibration of SCIAMACHY’s polarization sensitivities.
  • Participation in a conceptual study for a geostationary scanning spectrometer (UVN on Sentinel 4).
  • Analysis of SCIAMACHY polarization data (limb mode) with the prospect of retrieval of stratospheric aerosol profiles
  • Comparison of SCIAMACHY limb radiances and polarization with a radiative transfer model (SCIATRAN), testing and intercomparison of the model

 

 

Research Associate at RIKEN-BNL Research Center

 

  • Projects:
  • PHENIX Experiment at RHIC (Brookhaven National Laboratory), focusing on its spin program, i.e., the investigation of the nucleon spin structure via high energy proton-proton collisions.
  • Data analysis and systematic studies on false asymmetries and single electron asymmetries.
  • Work of general interest for the PHENIX collaboration:
  • Offline data quality assurance.

Postdoc at MPI für Physik

  • MAGIC collaboration (Very high energy gamma ray Cherenkov imaging telescope on La Palma)
  • Conceptual design study of atmospheric monitoring devices for the MAGIC and EUSO experiments, including a multi-wavelength Lidar for MAGIC and an Infrared Camera for EUSO.
  • Implementation of an IR radiometer to the MAGIC telescope for cloud monitoring, together with an engineer and a student.
  • Data analysis and systematic studies.
  • Work of general interest for the MAGIC collaboration:
  • Development of programs for the on- and offline data quality monitoring for MAGIC
  • Tests of calibration software

 

 

Master and Ph.D. thesis at DESY

  • Thesis on measurement of the gluon polarization in the nucleon using high-pT hadrons
  • Extensive Monte Carlo Model studies and parameter tuning, the extension of the model to include QED radiative effects
