> Star-2 Communication Satellite Power Subsystem Cost Account Manager and Technical Lead 
Architect and design lead for the flexible and expandable Star-2 Power Subsystem to meet communication satellite growing power needs for at least 10 years. Performed midterm design studies to increase augmentation power to the spacecraft station keeping thrusters and to introduce lithium ion batteries, formulating requirements for their operational management and performance.
Lead power subsystem engineer for the first STAR-2 satellite, N-STAR-c through to in-orbit test in July 2002, and the HYLAS satellite launched August 2012. Analytically demonstrated the electromagnetic compatibility of bus electrical components to the HYLAS Ka Band payload thus mitigating the need for expensive EMC testing. 
The power subsystem design is fully successful, accommodating solar cell efficiency improvements and lithium ion batteries to provide a power capability expansion from 2.0 to 5.5kW, and being operational for over 11 years on 27 STAR-2 satellites without system or component failure.  
> Small Spacecraft Studies and Programs
Provided budgetary, technical and planning support to Business Development for  numerous LEO and special application spacecraft proposals. Lead Power Subsystem engineering activities included:
Design studies into the inter spacecraft wireless power transfer of electrical power, and the power subsystem design of a small spacecraft bus for a flight demonstration of the F6 Fractionated Space Architecture program.
IPT Lead for the Power Subsystems of the Spacecraft Micro-Star IBEX and ST8 Spacecraft, adapting the heritage Micro Star Power subsystem to the specific requirements of the two spacecraft programs, and leading the design of the IBEX and ST-8 adaptive Power Control Modules. The IBEX program is fully successful and the first user of Lithium Ion batteries in Orbital’s small spacecraft.
Conceptual design of a novel low mass, low cost Solar Array Regulator for Battery Dominated Bus Power Systems featuring simplicity with high redundancy and efficiency over a wide range of operating conditions.
> Design and Development Lead Engineer of a Low Illumination, Low Temperature High Voltage Solar Array and it Power Distribution System for the Dawn Interplanetary Spacecraft 
The solar array program involved the conceptual and detailed design, specification and technical negotiation with both NASA JPL and the selected contractors for the Solar Array, its Photovoltaic Assembly and Drive System. Conducted detailed investigation into the low illumination, low temperature characteristics of Multi-Junction Solar Cells. Developed techniques on the solar array and drive mechanism to retire the risk of voltage breakdown and arcing. 
The Dawn Solar Array has fully met its predicted performance with no failures, allowing optimum mission performance of the spacecraft’s ion propulsion engines.

> TELSTAR Spacecraft Power System Lead Engineer
Architected and designed the 100 volt power bus and subsystem for the Telstar IV and  Series 7000 communications satellites as the first U.S. high voltage spacecraft power bus, designed to accommodate the growing power requirements of communication spacecraft. 
> Cost Account and Engineering Manager for the Inmarsat 3 Spacecraft Power System
The Engineering Lead and Cost Account Manager for the development of a mid range subsystem, directing an assigned team of specialists in battery, solar array and power component design.
The subsystem flew on four Imarsat Communication Satellites that significantly exceeded their life expectancy. The GE Technical Excellence Award was received for the innovative power subsystem design.
> Electrical System and Power Systems Engineering for the 9.5  kW ACES Spacecraft Program
Engineered the A2100 spacecraft power subsystem to support a high power payload and provide power to improve the impulse of the station keeping thrusters. After critical review of detailed subsystem design analyses the system capability was increased by 12%.  Thoroughly upgraded the electrical distribution system to support high power loadings and ensure the electromagnetic compatibility of the spacecraft system to the radiated emissions of the high power S Band payload.
