After joining SUPARCO in December 1981, following is the summary of my experience related to the assignments/projects based on Electronic Instrumentation for Sounding Rocket Test Flights, Communication Engineering and System Design Engineering of Micro-Satellites.
Ensuring the continuous functionality and Optimum performance of RF/IF Uplink and Downlink chain that includes Data/video link provision through VSAT links and Routine operation/maintenance, configuration and calibration and troubleshooting of the following equipments:
Performing following tests periodically to make sure the optimum performance of Antenna structure and RF Link.
During this period posted at Karachi-Ground Station for PakSat-1R communication satellite. Main responsibilities include but not limited to the technical co-ordination with Lahore centre and with Chinese engineers in Beijing, technical supervision to newly trained and fresh engineers on day to day basis.
Being Deputy Program Manager for first Pakistan Communication Satellite (PakSat-1R) in Beijing China key responsibilities included technical coordination among subsystems and system teams, contract monitoring, technical supervision, program management and timely completion of following tasks.
During this period, a challenging task of design and development of first and new ever prototype remote sensing platform was assigned. Supervised and accomplished all the aspects including but not limited to project management, system engineering, resource management and up-grooming of fresh engineers for timely and successful completion of this project. Another assignment during this period was preparation of International bid for Indus Basin Water Telemetry project to monitor and control water regulation and management in Pakistan.
Main responsibilities during this period included project management, cost management and resource management related to Attitude & orbital control subsystem (AOCS) of LEO satellites. Moreover, also contributed towards facility development, human resource development and technical supervision of all projects related to various laboratories of AOCS. To groom and orient the fresh engineers with various aspects of satellite disciplines, formulated a six month course covering system engineering aspects of each subsystem of spacecraft.
During this period, supervised design and development of various projects related to Radio Frequency particularly related to UHF receiver and VHF transmitter. Also worked in the capacity of in-charge for second Pakistan experimental Satellite “Badr-B”.
Main responsibilities during this period included project management, cost management and resource management being technical lead. In addition, supervise design and development of various Telemetry projects.
Key responsibilities included design and development of Telemetry System for Rockets. Also contributed towards the design and development of Harness for first experimental satellite of Pakistan, “Badr-A”.
COURSES AND TRAININGS
This training program was arranged about the usage of PCM system in Telemetry Packages. Using XPRT system purchased from Loral Data Systems, Sarasota-Florida, U.S.A.
This course was offered by Xian Satellite Control Centre (XSCC), China in 1999 for two months. In this course, experts from various fields imparted their invaluable experience through their lectures on the design, development and operation of TT&C system.
This training was offered by XSCC team at Karachi, Pakistan in 1999 for duration of two months. The training was provided about all TT&C modules, their design philosophy and working.
In 2005, Feasibility & System Definition Study for Remote Sensing Satellite was conducted for five (05) months. This program covered the PRSS Program Exploitation, Project Monitoring and Control, Program Development Plan AIV, Risk Analysis, Management Plan and Augmentation /Up-gradation of existing facilities for PRSS.
This course was offered to groom managerial skills and update the knowledge about technical management. Attended Management courses for executives in October 2007 conducted by Pakistan Institute of Management, Karachi, Pakistan. Salient features of this course included Project Management, Quality Assurance, Human Resource management and communication skills.
This training was offered by Shenzhou Institute CAST China at Beijing in 2009. The training was provided about all Satellite sub-systems at unit, sub-system and system level, their design philosophy and working. Trained for six months and later on joined CMT (construction Monitoring Team) for PakSat-1R satellite duration twenty one months.
