Dec. ’06 – Dec. ‘13 RF Test Engineer (contract) – AIT Department
Working mainly in a class 3 cleanroom environment within the AIT (Assembly Integration and Test) department, my main duties are to test the payload (communication and navigational payloads) of various customer satellites throughout their build.
These tests include: Integration, Baseline, Section level testing, health checks, EMC and Tvac tests.
Measurements taken are mainly S-parameters, gain, phase, noise figure, PIM and other radio parameters. The tests lie mainly in L-band, Ka and Ku band frequencies although some can be within the C-band and X-band frequency ranges. This intails using Astrium’s E3K Test System, ESA SCOS 2000 (Galileo), and stand-a-lone test equipment for manual tests ie : PNA, PSA, oscilloscope, etc
Offsite working is common and I have spent time in France, Holland, Italy and Germany
Sept. ’05 – Dec ‘06 RF Test Technician (contract) – Manufacturing Department
Working mainly in a class 3 manufacturing cleanroom enviroment my duties were to tune and test Solid State Power Amplifiers. SSPA’s were tuned for Gain, Phase and return loss verses frequency over a working bandwidth within L-band. Tuning was achieved by parallel gap welding gold tape onto tuning pads incorporated into the amplifier circuitry.
Test of monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuits(MMICs) such as driver amplifiers, solid state power amplifiers, switches and phase shifters prior to integration into transponder modules using pulse measurement equipment such as H.P 85108 ,85120 analyzers. Results measured such as S-Parameters, compression, phase and other radio parameters.

Technician; as part of the Box Line Fallout/Failure Analysis Dept. my duties were to debug IBM’s 386, 486, and Pentium based PC’s, lap tops and servers.
